Landed in a gur today and ball was In rough but gur extended onto fairway and nearest point if relief was fairway. Even though I was in a poor lie in the rough I take it I would still place on nearest point of relief which was fairway

you'd drop, but yeah

It could depend on how wide the fairway part of GUR is in comparison with the rough part whether a DZ were necessary. If the fairway part were wider, your NPR from a position on the fairway part could be in the rough which is unreasonable, leading to the provision of a DZ.

We have 4 DZs in place ATM because of drainage work being carried out on the RHS of our 18th green and fairway. The OOBs fence is only about 10/12 yards away from the RHS of the green.

A DZ should give the same sort of 'challenge' or 'non challenge' that would have been faced from the original position and should only be used if normal relief is impracticable or impossible.

The former is often difficult to achieve in situations near the green where playing over bunkers is often involved.

Can you not ask questions then here?
yes of course you can, and the rules guys are brilliant giving exact rulings and explaining things in a simple to understand way that a lot of us (well me anyway) find a lot more helpful and easier to put in place on the course than trying to work it out from the rules book.

Just a thought but maybe the way you come across in your posts (not just this one but on all threads) is why your finding that your not being responded to in the manner you would like.

May i suggest a slightly different way of posting will result in you receiving a more helpful and welcoming response.

Or you could just prove everyone right, in which case get back under your bridge.
