For a change I stopped at Curry PC world to look for a laptop for my Dad. As I was looking at Win 8 laptop which unwashed planning to update to Win10. After sometime a salesman approached me with offer to help..
Me: If I buy this laptop, will you delete all this PC world demo bloatware before I get it?
Salesman: Yes, when you get this, we will do a factory reset thus get it to Win 8
Me: Cool, and can I update it to W10
S: Yes, but you have to update it in the right order and put the correct patches and then update to W10, else this will not upgrade to W10 and you will need to delete everything and the recovery disks won't work blah blah blah.. we can however do the update for you for £35..
Me: How long does the update take?
S: Factory reset takes 2 hours, downloading the W10 takes 4 hrs, updating to W10 will be another 3 hours so we can do it for you in 9 hours!!
Me: Dont you have a W10 master image that you can replicate?
S: oh yes, so we don't have to download it, saving you of 4 hours..
.. blah blah blah..
Luckily I (think) I understand how these things work, so can safely look past this tosh, but I wonder about how gobbledygook we make these things for those who won't understand it..
This is not just about PC World, equally applicable to all opaque things like Finance, Wills etc.. though I did get a good laugh out of the pure fluffware being thrown around...
