In the "if you could start over" thread some posters wondered if they should have started out as "lefties".

Are there any ambidextrous golfers out there?
One of my regular social partners is right handed off the tee and fairway until he has to chip or pitch to the green - then he goes lefty.
Then he putts r/h.
(Yes, he has some l/h clubs in his bag just for that purpose)

I'm right handed, playing LH (it started with cricket at a very early age but that's another story.....)

Through practice I became reasonably competent to hit up to about a 6 iron RH, using a reversed LH club. Played a very tight tree lined course and it came in usefull many times.

Need more practice now.

There's a hint of ambidextrous ability that runs right through my family.

My dad used to Box at a good amateur level and could fight equally as well right handed or south paw. Cricket he also is able to bat and bowl both handed.

My brother likewise with cricket can do right and left hand on both bat and bowl, he plays golf right handed but can also hit a mean ball left handed as well which I've seen him use to superb results in competition play when up against trees and a right handed shot is not on, he can shift a left handed shot out as far as i can right handed (it does make you feel inadequate)

myself always hated cricket and get me to try and hit a golf ball left handed its like watching a baboon swing a rattle snake! However football I'm equal right or left footed ability and always ended up playing left sided as a result in whatever team i played for. Baseball I can hit a ball both ways so no idea why i cant with a golf ball, I can only play pool or snooker left handed despite being a right handed person and Taekwondo I fight both right hand and left hand stance dependant on how my opponent chooses to fight to help give me advantage of unpredictability.

My sister crap at all sports but is able to write both handed.

My mum well she just calls us all a bunch of freaks!

A bloke in my work society plays with a mixture of left and right handed club. it a pain as you never know what side to stand on. i did give him some advise once as he was given a handicap of 28 but has never broken the 110 mark and wont do anytime soon. i said perhaps he should pick either left or right handed and stick with the one. i see the following season he,s still playing with both so will keep my opions to myself from now on. i believe i could give left handed a go and it would be a challenge to see what i could score over 9 holes

I am left handed but play right handed because I first started playing with right handed clubs, batted right handed when playing cricket too.

A girl at our club who plays left handed, used to play right handed.

same as Homer, left through and through except for cricket and golf. Does make me wonder if I could/should be able to play left handed but it just feels wrong!

Right handed in all sports. Although I used to have a decent left handed golf swing and I can bowl some reasonable left handed off breaks.

Biggest struggles come trying to pass right in rugby. Very tough when your predominantly right-handed

I posted the OP last night.
Today I played in a HiLo comp with two guys I'd not met previously - really nice guys to play with and we had a great game and a beer afterward
I couldn't believe what one of the guys told us given I posted this thread (It's a strange enough story anyway)
He plays off 11 and is right handed.
But...... years back he used to play left handed off 8.
He had a total 'mare today which produced the remark "I should have stuck to left handed" and then the story.
He went from left back to right as he's right handed in other respects and got given a set of clubs.
(Didn't ask how he played left at first).

When I played club team squash we regularly came up against a player who constantly switched hands throughout the game.
He used to freak opponents out because they were obsessed by him doing it.
I used to shout to our player "He hasn't got a backhand!"
I told myself it was a weakness and when I drew him I beat him - just - and it almost freaked me too.
