Knocking ball of tee

If I knock the ball of the tee when I address it does that cost a shot?I thought it did but my mate said it doesn't, do you know the correct rule?

No. To count as a stroke you must have made a forward movement of the club with intention of hitting and moving the ball.
Just replace it on the tee.
