Anybody interested in playing the kiwi trophy at Gullane Golf Club over the winter season?
Got to get away from mats and winter greens!

Perhaps some more info please. After all, this is your 1st post.

And what's all this about Kiwi's. Are you talking about "intelligent" Aussies or the fruit?

My mummy always told me to be careful of strangers who offered me sweets or fruit. :D

From the Gullane website see below. www.gullanegolfclub.com. One of the best winter links course around they say. Played N02 and its fantastic!

The Club is running a men's winter stableford competition, called the Kiwi Trophy, from Saturday 25th October 2008 to Sunday 22nd March 2009.

The competition is run primarily for non members and for the cost of an initial entry fee of £30 allows unlimited golf on Gullane No. 2 and No.3 at reduced green fee rates between the dates above. The green fee rates per round are £20 for No. 2 and £15 for No. 3.

Are you a non-member looking to take part?

I'd be keen, if it weren't for the 5 hour drive.

If you explain a little more, there are a few players in this area.....

I'm guessing you want to take advantage of the "deal" and need to make up a pair or something.....???

Yes Dave looking to take part and get together with some other keen winter golfers who want to play a great course over the winter. I am a non member current handicap 15 age 37. You can play any Saturday or Sunday and book tee times 1 week in advance.

Less than a 1 hours drive for me. A quote from the top 100 golf courses web site 'Gullane is blessed with the most exquisite turf- winter rules not needed here' sounds better than mats and fairway greens to me!

I have to say I'm not familiar with many courses in Scotland but I know a little about Gullane(s) courses and can only wish that maybe in another life I could live in an area so blessed with brilliant courses.
I hope you find someone......to think, a course that plays all year round and such quality links......heaven.

Welcome to the forum b.t.w.

Gullane has 3 good courses, bannerman, especially to play in the winter. I've played all 3 as Gullane No.1 overlooks my own course, Craigielaw.

No. 1 and 2 don't have much to separate them in my mind. Proper golf courses and particularly good views from No.1. Usually pretty windy and the rough is lost ball every time, though.

I'd be interested if I had a little more time this winter ....but there are a few guys on here who live nearby so hopefully you'll find someone to meet up with.

Id love to play them too, but it will have to wait till I can get organised, perhaps if I can do it when visiting people up there or if I take a holiday up there, but not right now Im afraid.
