Played it today.

It was in utterly fantastic nick, best greens I have putted on this year.

But it is still vastly over rated.

Views and a site to die for but so many weak, mundane holes plus it really does not test you apart from having some wonderful green complexes that if you get on the wrong side of a slope you are goosed.

That is 5 times I have played it now and I am sorry I just don't see why folk do cartwheels over how wonderful it is......it isn't.

Stand out holes are 3, 5, 7, 11, 12, 15 and 16.

Weak holes 1, 2, 6, 8, 13, 14,17 and 18 is a poor design with a green that each time I play it is receiving a 3 to 5 iron yet it's perched up in the air with a huge banking and burn in front of it.......it is only missing a windmill and a clowns mouth.

£195 for a knock? No way.....freebie today so well worth it.

£215 next year.....

Have to disagree with you, I rate it way ahead of somewhere like Muirfield which to me was close to flat and featureless. Some very good holes indeed at Kingsbarns and even the 'lesser' holes compensate by having fantastic views. As for the 18th, it's a great finishing hole. Uphill and into the wind when I played there (off the back tees), 2nd shot into the green was a 3 wood but it gives a higher handicap player the option to lay up and wedge on using their shot.

Very good course and well worth it's position in the rankings

One of the best courses I've ever played on Don't know any course with 18 stand out holes.agree it's a bit overpriced but the views alone are worth it.Not many holes in the world better than the 15th, off the back tee's into a wind it's not for the feint hearted.

Well it's all about opinions. I would rush back to play Kingsbarns but wouldn't pay the money again for Muirfield.
