Just found out today that one of my cousins is getting married (again) and has asked me to be an usher on the same day as the KoK final. As a result I'm not going to be able to play. Gutted to say the least. I think I was right in saying that the rules said the 2nd place at the qualifier (RickG) would be offered first refusal.

I was wondering however if anyone would object if I suggested offering my place on the assumption Rick doesn't want to play (and if he does fair play) up for auction with the money going to the H4H charity pot

I'm peeved to miss out but it promises to be a big family gathering and a chance to see many that I haven't seen in more years than is right and a chance to catch up. However it's decided to allocate my place I hope whoever goes instead of me has a great time

I think you need to pm Virtuocity before you go offering anything as its his call, I don't think 2nd place was offered if the regional winner couldn't make it.
 
I thought it was a competition for people to enter. To make a proposal like this is unfair as it puts pressure on someone to not take up their opportunity by coming 2nd. Especially a genuinely nice bloke like Rick who is really big into H4H, who will now feel under pressure to do what you have suggested.

if Rick has come 2nd then he should be able to take the place without any pressure being put onto him put it up for auction. Anyway like has already been said, it is a competition not an opportunity for the biggest wallet to play in the final.

Sooo, 2nd place then? If not then I need to contact the Daily Express/Lancashire Evening Post golf society and claim my half of the little glass trophy and 6 Dunlop golf balls that were so cruelly denied me by a dodgy decision at Fleetwood GC in 2002 by the Society Chair, Roy Payne..:D

Offering your place up to raise funds for H4H is a wonderful gesture but unfortunately contradicts the rules of the competition I set out a good while ago, as others have said above.

When taking on the responsibility of organising things, I was very conscious of keeping the qualifier dates and final as far away from H4H events as possible, as to take nothing away from it in terms of fundraising- despite some criticism from a few people as to the time of year the qualifiers were to be played.

As per competition rules, your place will be offered to Rick (I will PM him now).

No qualms about this at all. As I said it was just a thought and more than happy to see Rick get a chance
