Here's one of those questions that occures, when you are bored at work in the early hours of the morning trying to get done...

Its a question for those golfer North of the wall...

Can you wear a kilt whilst playing golf, is it an allowable attire in the dress code for playing golf...?

In a mad moment last night I thought how cool an experience it would be to play golf in a kilt.

Cernunnos,

you are getting serious withdrawl aren't you,
this cold weather, lack of opportunities to play, no sun on your back as you drive off the first tee, winter greens , rubber mats.

all this is just too much for you and seems to have brought you to;
"In a mad moment last night I thought how cool an experience it would be to play golf in a kilt."

its so bad I'm buying an extra lottery ticket tonight!!!

If you wait a bit, I am sure Poulter will add one to his 'collection'. He has a patented tartan afterall. Just a matter of time.....

I came up with something else as regards golf last night... though Its one of those I ought to copyright... so obviously can't share that one even if its probably just as mad...

Seriously though... Are kilts allowed in the golf dress code north of the border I'm curious.

Haven't tried it, my kilt only comes out for weddings, funerals and ceilidhs.
Can't see why you couldn't wear one for golf if you want.

I can't quite envisage the braveheart style and a flowing swing working well together.

but since you probably would not be allowed your skean dhu you have a ready repository for the gps.

I wore a kilt one frosty morning years ago and once back in the warmth of the clubhouse a guy who finished behind me said that a strange creature with a tail had left trackmarks on the frosty grass. I soon told him it was not my tail ;)

Sounds like a damn good idea to me. Much preferable to shorts that the knobbly kneed crew seem to want to put on at the fist glimpse of sun. At least kilts are traditionally worn with sensibly long socks and are of a good stout texture. I'm all for traditional dress. I wish we English had one.

Mate of mine was asked to leave a clubhouse after a round on tour once for not having, and I quote, "knee length hosiery to go with the shorts".

We went elsewhere for a pint

You can wear a dress if you wish Dave and dont let anyone tell you differently ;)

The other problem that those "South of the Wall" may not be aware of is that most kilts (mine included) have a bizarre quasi-electro-magnetic phenomena that causes them to be inexplicably drawn towards the bar. So, you go down to your club in the Kilt for a few holes but get inexplicably drawn towards the bar and end up not playing golf at all.
