I'm looking to change cars in the not too distant future.
I currently drive a mark 5 Golf GTI (a great car,but is just starting to play up a bit,and I fancy a change).
I'm just wondering if anyone has any good / bad history with Kia as a brand and if anyone has had a Pro Cee'd GT Tech.
Any thoughts/views ?
Thanks

I have a Kia Ceed Sportswagon which is 2 years old, done 40k miles , absolutely love it to bits, very easy to drive, it's a deisel and I get 50+ mpg easily and I do lots of little trips with work.
Highly reliable, never had a problem and the 7 year warranty is great, pretty good fixed price service costs and insurance in cheaper than my old Citroen C4 Grand Picasso

Roomy boot and seats are easy to put down leaving a large flat area, and having 2 kids at Uni, I need a bit boot.
Car flies when I want it to, motorway cruising it just eats miles.
Very versatile vehicle from a brand that is gaining in reputation
I'm a happy Kia owner :)

I believe the Cee'D was a Reasonably Priced Car! (not the GT Tech to be fair)

I don't have a KIA but know people who do. Decent, basic a to b car. Not luxurious and I suspect you would notice a difference from your Golf. The Sportage has a loyal following.

Any brand that offers a 7 year warranty must be making well put together cars and the numbers I see around are increasing. Not my cup of tea though.

Ran into the back of one a few years ago at a roundabout going no more than 5/6 mph. Several hundred pounds repair bill for the Kia. Quick wipe of the bumper on my Volvo. Says all I need to know about them.

Thanks for the feedback so far, everyone!

To be fair, my old man had a Volvo and I believe that may say more about Volvo's than it does Kia's (very substantial!:))

My wife has a Kia Wenga and loves it, cheap to run and very roomy for a supposedly "small" car.

The Wenger car has some serious design issues. It is incredibly boring to drive and watch being driven and if there is ever any kind of accident, then it always claims it never saw what happened. And it will never be ranked first in its class.

I used to have a Kia Sportage as a company car. I still think they look very nice, but being honest I would not have chosen it if I was spending my own money. However it was fine and kind of did the job of a (relatively) affordable 4 by 4 that will take your golf clubs in the boot. I had the occasional electrical issues where warning lights would come up for a day or so and then disappear, hence making it very difficult to sort out if there was actually a problem or not. Also I had issues where the key would get stuck in the ignition to the extent that the key came off the key fob at one stage. Economy wise it was not great but then again it was a 4 by 4 so what do you expect. Also you could not get factory fitted DAB radios for them which was a pain, not sure now. But the local dealer were very good, always picking up my car and dropping it off when it needed anything doing to it.

Now got an Audi and you can feel the difference in quality. Mind you, I struggle to get my clubs in the boot now, so you win some and you lose some.

Ha, yes, I actually thought that as I was writing my post. Not scientific I know but the difference was quite an eye opener and put me off. I'm sure it's not fair to single out Kia as it no doubt wouldn't be the only small car to come off worst to a Volvo, though it was only an S60, not one of the XC tanks.

Whilst on holiday in the US I managed to have a bit of a coming together with a Toyota Prius, I was driving some US tank possibly a Dodge Charger. The damage to my car was a scraped wheel arch, the damage to the other car should have a been a reasonable dent in the driver's door but instead I had ripped open the entire side of the Prius like a sardine tin. I was astounded by how flimsy it was.

Sorry to hijack the thread - I've nothing but good things to say about Kia, aside from the dodgy model names. But I'm not surprised they don't stand up to being attacked by Volvos, you bully Fyldewhite ;)

i drove a Kia for a week whilst in the USA, plenty of room and a decent size boot, unfortunately can't remember which model I had. Not bad to drive, but at home I have two Skoda's, and they both drive better than the Kia (in my opinion). You might well take a look at the Rapid

Volvo brakes no good then

Kia cars used to be mainly Mazda parts, not sure now though.

I have a Ceed, its about 4 or 5 years old now, was top of the range at the time. Decent interior including climate etc, excellent boot fits all my club need including leccy trolley etc and drives fine (albeit im not that heavy a user). Value for money its as good a car as Ive ever had or could hope to have and imo far underrated (as per a few comments above)

Yo Fundy, Ceed Bro's Hi 5 :)

I've a pro cee'd SE (diesel) that I use for my 110 mile round trip to work and its great. The family car is a new Sorento KX-3 and before that we had a Sportage and then an Optima. Theyve all been great as well.

Kio Rio basic model (well one up as I got zircon and bluetooth) and can't really fault it. It's a bigger car on the inside than the equivalents in the market (Feista/Corsa) 46,000 on the clock in just over 2 years. No issues at all. Get 62mpg from the little 1 litre engine and free tax so I can't complain. Happy to sit at 70 on the motorway even if it takes a bit longer to get there.

Mate just upgraded from a Cee'd to the ProCee'd. He had the Cee'd for 5 years and it was a great motor with plenty of room. The ProCee'd gives him something a little more sporty without being ridiculous.
