Putting is a difficult aspect of the game. When the ball is on its way let's be quiet. You can move around. But please don't say its in or its going in. When you hear that rattle of the ball rolling in the bottom of the cup say what ever you want because I am happy cause its in. I am not a pro but its a niggle. So let me have my go and enjoy the craic after the action has happened.

We have a running joke in our group where you have to say great putt or something similar to keep putts out.
On Saturday I had a putt rolling straight at the hole when Gary called great putt mate and the ball turned hard left 6 inches from the hole to miss! I was in stitches. About 3 holes later I did the same back on a 3 foot putt and it missed in the same manner.
It's a bit of fun lighten up it's just a game of golf.

As soon as you've struck the ball its open season!

"you can move around". I know I can, if your on the same line as me I'll be around the back of it quickly to see how it runs.

I'll have a large glass of the same as you please ;)

Wow! Just wow wonder what the OP was drinking or smoking to get so wound up at something so trivial.

Not something that has ever registered with me as an issue.

This term 'keep your mouth of(f) my ball' appeared in the Who's Your Caddy book by Rick Reilly and was attributed to the 1970-something Masters champion Tommy Aaron when Reilly was caddying for Aaron during a practice round at Augusta and spoke to his ball. Aaron did not like him doing so.

I talk to my ball - and sometimes it listens. I don't want anyone else whispering sweet nothings in it's ear. Mind you - though a little encouragement from a FC or PP as my putt goes on it's way doesn't do any harm I'd get a bit cheesed off if the comments started get too personal about the putt. You know - if say someone says 'something like whoa, whoa, whoa' if I hit the putt way too hard then I might get a bit irritated if it happended more than once or twice. So I'm kind of getting whatthe OP is about.
