How good is Martin Kaymer ?

The man has just won back two back European tour wins, and has hardly had a word said about him.

Is this because he's not really that talented, and these were just flukes, or are we all just a slightly xenophobic bunch, and if he were a GB & I player we'd be shouting plaudits from the rooftops ?

He's paid his dues, worked his way up through the Challenge tour ( no insta success a la Lowry - who got great kudos just for making the cut btw ), been rookie of the year in 2007, won 2 events last year, and had his recent successes to boot.

His swing looks fine to me, he's got plenty of mental strength to back it up, he's young, but experienced. And he looks set to make it into the world top 10 ( I think he'll be the youngest by far )

I've only seen him this last couple of weeks, but he looks good enough to make top 5 to me, and as likely as anyone to challenge for the no 1 spot.

So why all the apathy for a young lad who is really rather good ?

I think he's undoubtably talented, and very steady, and perhaps most importantly, hits the ball a mile.
Will win a lot over the next decade I think.

However, just like Langer, he seems a bit 'dour' and characterless perhaps, and not easily taken to by us all perhaps ?

Langer has to be the most inane character out there still, and did you see that shirt he wore for the last round of the BMW the other week ????
*shakes head*

Undoubtedly a great talent and most certainly an order of merit winner of the future (perhaps even this year). Expect to see him compete in a few Ryder cups as well.

Agree with Chris's comments ala Langer tho'.

There must be something wrong with me.

A Faldo fan, and I enjoyed watching Kaymer's game as well. If only he'd learn to pronounce his name properly !

:)

Been watching and following him for the last year and always look out for his results.

Not being in the spot light might be in his favor as he's been able to work and develop at his own pace as opposed to being splashed all over the media as the next "Tiger" like Rory has been for example.

Reckon he could easily be a major winner. Ineterestingly when I asked my German colleagues about him he also doesn't get much of a mention in the German media either although golf isn't so popular in Germany because it's very much a rich mans game (die oberan Zehntausend).
Calling hime dower I don't really see as being fair there's none worse than the goose but he doesn't get the same stick.

Will be interesting to see how he does in the Open.

Good player, good temperament. I want to see him truck on through to win many tournaments.

Everytime I watched him.....only two words popped into my mind. RYDER CUP. :)

This guy will be massssiiiiiiiiiiiiive very talented and has that levelness that Faldo and Langer have, he will become a winning machine and may be the one (in a couple of years) to knock Tiger from No1 spot

What surprises me is that he looks so comfortable at 25. In theory he's got at least another 5-10 years before he even begins to hit his peak.

Faldo was 30 when he won his first major, Langer was 29 when he got to be world no 1. Casey is 32 and still has time to get better.

As long as Kaymer doesn't let his natural exuberance lead him astray he will become a superstar.
