Fresh off a win last week and #boomtower Justin Thomas has shot 59 in Hawaii, oh and he did it by eagleing 18. Serious player. He's going to have a big year.

Youngest player ever to break 60. This kid will take some stopping as he has much more to his game than hitting it miles. Showed his class last week when he lost four of his five shot lead in two holes but then just got back into his rhythm for the last couple of holes.

Amazing golf...wish I could have watched it

Not sure why I am paying for Sky when they not bothering to show the majority of the golf

I know there are reasons why they not showing, but surely they can make it happen

Before I go further, this is a seriously impressive score

But....

It "only" 11 under par.
That in itself is amazing but had he shot that on a Par 72 course it would have been a 61 and nobody would be getting excited.
With the distance the Tour Pros are getting it's becoming more common for par to be 70.
Therefore, a 59 becomes much easier to achieve.
Which is the better round - 59 on a par 70 or 60 on a par 72..?
Back in the day, 20-30 years ago, a 59 was almost unheard of as par was almost always 72 so 13 under was going some...

As I say, not decrying the achievement but it's going to happen more often.

I don't necessarily agree with that Imurg, as if its a par 72, there will be 4 par 5's a par 70 usually only has 2. so the way pros play par 5's, you can say two less chances of birdie

Let me also throw this out there, there has never been a 59 on the European tour

Possibly because they don't set courses up for target golf in the way the PGA does...

They can't make it happen if the host broadcaster doesn't have their cameras rolling. Golf was on from 11pm last night so its not like they didn't show any of it, just happened that JT was in the early wave of golf yesterday.

Back to JT's round. Great player and I don't care if it was a par 70 or 72, its still a 59. Could see him going on a run this year and getting a couple more/contenting most weeks. He could easily by pass Rickie Fowler at this stage and get a major before him.

Get yourself a android box/firestick and download kodi onto it. I've got all sports channels and also the American channels including The Golf Channel for free 😉
