....your loading the car and you realise that you have left your golf shoes in the works car that went out on a job on Friday

My Adidas shoes are currently at a car dealer in Workington, some 2.5 hours away. I had to drop the Mrs off at her mothers on the way to golf so didn't have time to go to AG or SD. I ended up in my pro shop paying over the odds for some Footjoy AQL's which were half a size smaller than my Adidas but more importantly were very comfortable and didn't feel like shoes that needed wearing in.

Anybody else find that have to make unwanted purchases at their pro shop

Played a match last year and had swapped to a carry bag so I could store it in my locker as I was coming straight from work. Got there to find no umbrella and of course it was already raining. Only one in stock was a top end Callaway so forked out for that. Should have just got wet or just gone with the waterproofs. Rookie error

Not myself but I have forced someone else into spending in the proshop!

Left the club one day picked up "my" shoes got in my car and disappeared off on a non-golfing holiday for a week. When I got back the pro approached me and asked me to check the size of the shoes I had in my car, needless to say they did look a bit smaller than my 11's and turned out to be my mates size 8's!

My friend got forced to buy some dress code conforming socks at John O Gaunt.....

I played Winter Fourballs this year with a friend of mine who was moving house. He was pretty last minute for the start time and realised he'd not got half his stuff - think he bought; waterproof top / shoes / brolly / dozen balls / gloves / towel.

Probably the only customer the pro had all day, but dropped a fair few pennies!

Mine too! Although he went into the pro shop for a browse and then on the first tee was advised he was dressed inappropriately! Love that course (both of them in fact) but couldn't live with the attitude.

Gloves-- the amount of damn times i take 2 clubs and a glove to the range and leave the glove somewhere in the house and arrive at the course without it, i now have 4 callaway warbird gloves, 2 nike and 3 foot joy gloves, RCD only stock fj gloves, and they are the most horrible gloves

I had to buy a hat at woodhall spa. So did quite a few others on here. It was a bit wet though, so the cost was justified, and at least I wasn't the fool who bought the white galvin green sou'wester.

Never, but if I did then I would never think of wearing black shoes. I'd put my white adidas PowerBooks on with white aJove ankle socks

I'm guessing the guy who had to buy the socks was wearing shorts. Most clubs have sock rules with shorts. Some even have to wear knee length white ones, which negate any point in shorts anyway.

Played at East Sussex National in an Aerospace charity golf day a few years ago. Played the day before and broke the shaft on my 7 iron.....pro couldn't repair it in time, so bought a set of irons.... :o

Made the 2hr drive to Woburn for a full day out, unpacked the clubs but realised that my shoes were still sat on the kitchen floor by the door all ready for me to pick up on my way out!!

Was faced with a rack full of FJ classics and other top end shoes. Managed to find a pair of AQLs in the small sale section they had. Still £45 but 5yrs on they are still going strong - inadvertently a great buy
