And i go and do my back in!

I've been improving a lot recently scoring under 90 regularly and my handicap has been slowly but surely coming down. My aim for the season was to get to 18 or below and i felt i was going to do it. With another two comps in the next week and a bit and a round at Gleneagles to look forward to...

Lifting top soil around the garden on Sunday night and i woke up yesterday with a jiggered back! I'm struggling to just put a pair of socks on, never mind play a round of golf!!!

:(

I really hope i can swing a club for Gleneagles a week on Friday.

Just thought i'd share my disappointment!

Go see a physio, he might be able to fix it pretty quickly, mine usually does, and it is £30 well spent.

Gardening, I knew it was dangerous. get the wife to do it, they are built for carrying heavy loads.

ha ha... my wife is a physio! I've been given stretches etc. to do.

I'm also on extra strong Nurofen and it's having little effect :(

Having a job where i spend the majority of the day sitting at a desk is not helping me.

Slugger, sorry to hear about the back. I've suffered since a car accident at 17 (I was a passenger and we were hit, no boy racer stuff).

My lower back can go into spasm at any time, from turning funny or even sneezing!!!

I've not been for a while but would highly recommend Acupuncture.

I went with no expectations after the docs and physio's hadn't been able to touch the pain and stiffness.

After my first session I felt a foot taller and bounced out of there!!!

The stiffening up is your body's way of protecting the injury so just give it some time, rest lying down and take the anti-inflammatories.
Hopefully it's just a muscular thing and not a disc problem.

sneezing bloody hurts!

another steaming hot bath for me tonight and more stretches! i just got funny looks for doing them in the office :)

I really want to play golf as i can feel my game improving every time out at the moment.

Spoff... i'll think about your recommendation for acupuncture. I have actually had it before when i had a serious neck injury years back. Got some needles put right into my spine in the neck area. I'll never forget the physio's words just after inserting a needle into the back of my neck...

"Right. i'm going to leave that in there for 10 minutes. Don't touch it and i'll be back in a while!"

What's the first thing i did?

I had acupuncture up to three times a month for nearly a year and never once did I look at the needles because the first time my wife was with me and the look on her face as he put one one in the top of my leg was a picture.

Apparently the needle was 3" long and only half an inch was visable!

turns out as well as the pulled muscle that i've also got a slightly prolapsed disc!!!

hooked up to a tens machine now and lots of excercises so hopefully will be ok to play the medal on sunday!
