I managed to get out yesterday to play a few holes as an alternative to my usual Saturday session at the driving range. Something clicked with my swing, I was hitting it better than ever and over 8 holes scored mainly bogeys with a few doubles thrown in and nothing worse than a double (this is progress for me!).

Cue today and I'm stood on the first tee expecting big things. Fast forward 10 minutes and I'm writing 11 on my card, before scoring 6 on the par 3 2nd. So I hacked my way round getting more and more frustrated, before hitting the 8th green from about 170 yards, probably the furthest out I've ever managed to hit a green from. So at least I've got one positive to take out of today.

So quite a mixed weekend for me but at least I know it's in there somewhere, looking forward to next weekend now and just hoping to get a bit of consistency!

No it bit me again on Saturday! Found my swing in the week as its been missing the last few weeks. Que my Saturday round full of optimism, disaster! Blobbed the first three and not much better after that!

If i invented a consistent at golf pill, i'd be bombarding your inboxes and making more money than Viagra
its the key
respect the golf course young man!!

If only...... At least I've the comfort of knowing when I go back to playing my game wasn't in great shape, although improving, so I won't have that dreaded word "expectation" to deal with. I tend to do it the other way round. 6 on the first (par 3) and then anything from par to double figures on the 2nd (par 5)

Sound to me as if you went out EXPECTING to score well. That bred overconfidence, overanalysis and brash approach. Next time you shoot a good score play the following game safe, you can then have the confidence that you can play a safe game well and "turn it on" when required.

I am trying to say use your confidence to bank some nett pars not throw a score away going for a nett birdie!
