Hi,
Been playing about 5 months, doing quite well considering! just wondered how long brfore you joined a club/society and advantages/disadvantages of joining one early?
Thanx
Lyndon

Hi mate

If you got the cash join a club asap youll become better quicker and have more people to play with.
Learn the rules etc

when i first joined my club i was a bit nervous cos i was sh*t
when i stepped on the first tee the couple in front were worse and held me up for the round ha.
most people have been friendly. if im on my own i always get invited to join others which is cool.

dont think there are any disadvantages. just make sure you play regular to get your moneys worth.

West malling is 600 pound to join and im paying 980 a year but i think thats going up 50.
kng shill is poop in 2006 when we had the dry summer there course looked terrible where as wm looke ace greens were immaculate

Hi Lads,

I've been playing K'hill nearly every weekend for the last couple of months, think its a cracking course to be honest. Never played West Malling but never heard anything against it to be honest.

You guys got any other recommendtions for local kent courses?

Back on thread - I definately recommend joining a club asap, will help your game no end. Also recommend a few lessons.

dont mean to diss kings hill thats a bit unprofessional. Stevie g where you from ? are you looking for a course to join or just to play?

The principal reason i joined west malling is that it has too high quality course that you dont have to book a tee time for. Because of work commitments i don't know whether im going to be back in time to play gol or not , so the fact you can just turn up when you like really suited me. Theres a good friendly atmosphere at the club.you need to play only 3 times a month to get your green fees worth out of your membership. the only downer is the range is terrible (IMO) and the practice areas are inadequate. Also they only sell courvoisier as far as brandy like drinks at the bar. the two excellent courses more than make up for this.

Where are you playing stevie?

West malling seems pretty strong price wise. You can join the ridge which is excellent & gives playing rights to other courses for £800 with no joining fee!

Stevie, Gillingham is a good course apparently, The ridge, Mid-Kent, Cinque Ports, North Foreland and Chestfield are all excellent from my experience.

I like the ridge john i first played there. my mate used to work in the bar so i got free golf there. thats what got me interested. the course has decent interesting holes good variety. I would like to play there again. poult wood used to be lovely. i remember it was the cheapest course i was so surprised because it was immaculate. But last time i played there year and a half ago it looked like a farm. i was upset in a way. i hope its back to its best now

I really liked the ridge, I found it a challenging course with hazzards that actually come into play unlike some courses.

Planning on a visit to the ridge again in the spring! Maybee we could get us local boys down there, there is You, I, Stevie and Bunker all in kent.

Will look out for you at the range!

Played quite a lot at the London Club over the summer, but to be honest ruined my game as its a pretty tough so thats why i've started playing at Kingshill lately.

playing off 24 now, so suits me a lot better. i'm thinking about joining Kingshill soon, but lucky enough to play a variety of courses so will wait and see whether its worthwhile joining one properly or carrying on with what i've been doing in the last 6 months or so.

Regarding joining, think its comes down to whether you'll be getting value for money. If you could manage to make it out at least once a week then joining West Malling for that money is worth it with all the additional benefits that go with it.

Live in Barming btw.....same post code i see?.

Steve

Yes jon a round with the locals would be good. Not if i played like i did today tho i hit it left right fat thin shanked it 3 putted . But at the end of the day i pard the hardest hole on the course and hit a few good shots too so it wasnt so bad afterall..

yes steve ME16 im a London roada

im a 19 handicappa too.

what do you normally score in a round guys?

Hi chaps,

I live in Leybourne, about 5 mins from West Malling but am a member at the Kent National nr Paddock Wood (fantastic course as well).

Perhaps it would be a nice idea to have a game with all the Kent lads!!

That sounds great bunker, spoke about it with you once before. Would be good to all get together (neutral venue perhaps) for a game.

Im up for Augusta or even better the Nine hole course in Snodland OAST PARK. If you can make up and down on there greens you can take on the WORLD!!!!!!!!!

First of all you gotta work out what part of the golf course is actually the green!!!

lol
