Break90
Tour Rookie
Hi all, thought I'd introduce myself, recently joined the forum, been reading with interest for a week or so.
Used to play a lot, probably twice a week, got my handicap down to 12, before the family came along 7 years ago, when time, money, house moves etc got in the way. The last few years I've played about 3-4 times a year, society stuff and corporate days through work.
The nipper is now 7 with a busier social life than me, so summer just gone I started to play a bit more, shooting scores anywhere between 90 and 100, mostly spraying it all over the place but really enjoying it, and playing the odd hole or two according to plan.
I've recently applied for membership at a place called Gog Magog, which I believe is quite well renowned in the Cambridge area, and I've booked a course of 6 lessons with the pro there, of which I've had two now. Also treated myself to a new set of shinies, tried out loads of irons and woods over the last few weeks before going for Titliest 910D2 driver, 913f 3 and 5 wood, and Nike Covert irons. Kept my old wedges and putter.
going to the range a couple of times a week to practice the things the pro has asked me to work on, so far it's a revamped grip, apparently I had a strong grip which was causing a lot of shots to go right, and making sure that the first movement on the downswing is NOT throwing the club over the top.
Goals are to (hopefully) get my handicap back to around the 12 mark, but I'm really looking forward to spending the winter getting the game into some sort of order for next summer, playing as much as possible and entering some comps next year. Also looking forward to joining a roll-up at my new club and meeting some new people.
well, that's me, and if anyone lives/plays in the cambridge area I'm always up for a game, just drop me a line
