EON, our energy suppliers have just sent us a revised "estimate" for our gas and electricity usage over the next year or so. They have adjusted our direct debit accordingly to cover our proposed usage. Got to be honest, it seems a bit excessive.
Just trying to find out what others pay?
So what are your direct debit amounts for both?
And what sort of dwelling do you have?
Ours is an older (1930's) 3 bed semi.
This could be interesting.

Yeh we are with eon too and it went up 20%. Ours went from 82 to 105 a month for both gas a leccy. That's on a 2 bed terraced.

Mine is a new build 3 bed, so not entirely useful to you but with heating, lights, tv, on pretty much all day as someone is typically home with the kids etc. I would say we are a high user, gas and leccy is £108 a month with Scottish power. Been with them for 6 years, keep comparing and no one can beat them. On a fixed tarif until 2016.

We've got a mid 30's 3 bed end of terrace so probably very similar. We dumped the DD because of the way that British Gas always overestimated what they needed and then gave us credit back in the summer, then did exactly the same the next year. we recently did a quote at work whereby you all sign up and then go collectively to a supplier for the best price. That was coming in at an effective £130 per month on both. we are both out at work all day but Mrs BiM does feel the cold & isn't shy in using the central heating if needed. However that was done on the old boiler's usage. The new one has revised the annual estimate down from 11k to 6.5k so that might be worth thinking about.

We're with NPower and ours for a 3 bed end of terrace 1970's build is £90 a month for gas + leccy combined.

We were with EON but they put it up 20% based on the previous occupiers usage which was way above ours so we changed to NPower and its been cheapier and with no issues

3 Bed detached, 80's build. Pay approx £100 a mth combined. Have experienced the big hike previously that you have and have rang them and told them to knock it back down or we'd be moving on. They've knocked a hefty chunk off it and its been more accurate and realistic.

Interesting.
At work at the moment so I can't check exactly how much but I have been informed that I have got to pay just over £100.00 a month for my gas, and another £60.00 for the electric.
Both the wife and I work full time, heating and hot water programmed to come on for a couple of hours in the morning and again from about 5.00pm until about 10.30pm in the afternoon/evening.
Shower is an electric one so that doesn't draw anything from the gas boiler, and we very rarely have a bath so I can't see where the bloody bills are coming from.

U need a smart meter smiffy, eon gave my old man one for free. It's the actual kind of thing I do for work, just more commercial circuit monitoring etc.

They are taking the proverbial imo.

Contact them as advised above and ask them what basis they have for re-estimating an estimate. Check what the meters actually are and compare that with what their 'estimate' is. They could even owe you some cash!

Currently using First Utility... Would highly reccommend them... You only pay for what you use [as long as you remember to send them your meter readings!] NO optimistic estimates a la British Gas...

Having said that when my current deal runs out I'll do what I always do... Feed my details into a couple of the price comparison sites and see what they come up with... Usually get the same results and move to the top choice!

I pay £154/month for gas/electric combined - 3 bed terraced. We still have the heating on, lights on all the time, x-box, 4 laptops, 4 TV's, SkyTV always on in 2 rooms.... we don't turn anything off  (why should we?)

Look up Thermodynamics Smiffy.
I work in the Solar industry and these systems could save you a lot of money.
Basically does 100% of your hot water and you only use your boiler for heating.

Are you growing weed in the loft Richard to cover green fees???

What I was thinking for Smiffy too.

We pay £90 gas and electric with wife and two kids home most of the time, they are always leaving things on too.

This is for a 4 bed detached house built in the 80's, but i do use a wood burner to assist heating in the winter.

We only have leccy as we live in the back of beyond as far as gas is concerned and that is heating, water, cooking.
We pay around £160 a month over the year.
