There I was, just drifting off to sleep in front of the telly when ......................... BOOOOOOOOM!
The Red Arrows have just gone over my house at a VERY low altitude and a VERY high speed, magnificent.

Slime.

Cool.

Doing a few jobs in the garden, heard what I thought was the usual Heathrow traffic overhead, thought, hmm that sounds a bit meaty, looked up to see a Vulcan going over. Awesome. One of my favourite planes. Think there is only one flying one left.

Is there an airshow on in the SE?

also saw them at Eastbourne last week-ish, the vulcan supported by (spitfires or Hurricanes?) was an amazing sight

We see a Spitfire regularly flying with a helicopter down in Folkestone. I think it costs about £300 to go up in the chopper to take pictures

The Eurofighter and the Battle of Britain display went over my course on Saturday afternoon then we have Bournemouth airshow starting tomorrow, traffic home from work for the rest of the week will be horrendous

Teenagers David Howell and Gary Harris were were playing in the club championship at Broome.
Gary shot a course record 63 {-9] in the morning, Howller was 67.
Quite a sizeable crowd watched the afternoon round which co-incided with the Lyneham air show.
The Red Arrows were doing all their turns over the golf course on a beautiful day.
Nobody knew where to look first.

A couple of years ago Nana and Daughter took the weans up to see the tall ships at Greenock.
They did the park and ride and the kids rushed upstairs to nab the front seats of the open top double decker bus.
As they crested the hill above Greenock they saw the Red Arrows coming straight at then at eye level

Reminds me of when I was in the MOD as a Researcher in the 80's
We had to go up to the Otterburn ranges in Northumberland for "target practice"
On one side if the valley there were old Sherpa vans and other assorted vehicles and we were on the other in bunkers with surveying equipment.
The Harriers, Tornadoes etc etc would come screaming in from one side, drop bombs or fire missiles at the targets and we had to work out how close they got.
One Summer it was really hot and although cool in the bunker we wanted to catch some rays so we set the gear up on top. There was a 20 foot vertical grass bank right behind us.
On went the day until mid-afternoon when we heard on the radio that a plane was due in.
We looked but couldn't see it.

Then we saw it.

It must have been skimming the grass in the field above and behind us as it came screaming over us at about 400mph.
I could read the words on the pods and feel the heat from the engines
We didn't hear it coming because of the bank.

One Guy nearly collapsed from shock and several sets of troos were checked for infiltration!!

The Dutch pilot got hauled over several very hot coals for that one.....
