In the first vid is says he was uncertain on the greens... it looked like his ball hit a flippin' divot on the way to the hole

I'm pretty sure in those days everyone had to qualify. Exemptions came in in the 60's I think.

Look again, the ball is well down in the sand, never going to get spin so he played it spot on.

Yep that bunker shot was awesome and shows he wasn't just a ball striker.

Also found this, which no doubt you have seen Tommo, of Hogan practising in the 50's which I thought was good as it shows him hitting a range of shots. In case not, or for any others who are interested

Jones' swing may look a bit old fashioned but his position at impact is awesome.

Do these guys' swings all look just much more "natural" than today's top players?

I wish there was a proper golf site where you could see and compare quality footage of the great golf swings through the ages. Something for the GM site?
