Just entered the County Championship

Having played in the Seniors Championship, without any noticeable success I decided to enter the full county championship. 36 holes medal followed by matchplay of the top 16 players at S&A.

I do feel a bit foolish for having entered, and imagine I will finish near the bottom, but I felt that I should play in it at least once.

So relax and enjoy, try not to put extra pressure on yourself, a tick on your bucket list.

why play if your not going to put yourself out of your comfort zone, it's an experience that you should embrace and look forward to. Who knows you might surprise yourself how well an event that big might make you play?

Don't feel foolish, just relax and enjoy it - you have nothing to lose.

I know our county championship would benefit from more entries and we have higher handicaps than you playing, so I'm sure your lot will be happy the more that play.

No expectations usually a key to scoring well. You may just surprise yourself

Thanks for the encouragement, I ought to just enjoy it and that's what I hope I do, plus the fact that at £15 for at least 36 holes at a decent course is not to be sneezed at.

I have just received details for the championship, I was surprised to see that is not played off all the red tees, but some of the yellows and one of the whites, pushing the course length out to almost 6000yds, it looks like I will be one of the last out, at 12.10 and 4.55 so its going to be a long day.

Only just caught up with this. Hope it went well. I have never considered trying county championships but it sounds like a great idea.
