As the title says I've just ordered my tickets for the 2014 British Open, this will be my first live golf event I've attended and I doubt I could have picked a better event in the UK for my first. Going on the Friday as hopefully it will be a little less busy as apposed to Sat/Sun and will also ensure I see all of the players I want to see before the cut. The cost was £65 per ticket for any of the 4 days.

Can't wait

Anyone else going?

Yes mate, going on the Saturday. Never been to the open before so looking forward to it.

8 of us going from Lincoln and we are playing St Anne's old links on the Friday then going for a few after.

:clap:Have fun--British Open is the only golf event we dont want to miss in this house and the only one we follow on media---both British Open for men and women ---thankful to internet and the streaming functionality:thup:

We was going to play the course in may next year but due to having to use mats etc etc we are now playing Hillside .............like to do the open , maybe this year .........................................

I assume you guys that have never been to an Open or 'live' event are new to golf?

Been playing properly for 2 years. Was going to go the BMW at Wentworth this year but didn't bother in the end and wasn't prepared to travel to Scotland to watch the Open. Liverpool is a lot more accessible and if I'm honest I want to watch the likes of Tiger, Phil, Scott and Rory so the Open is the only way to do so in the UK really.

From 1976 to 2000, I used to go for the whole week, starting on the Sunday/Monday when they held the qualifying rounds and you could walk the fairways with some very decent players trying to get in - no International/Sunningdale qualifiers then. Not been at all recently, but hope to get there this year as I have never been to Hoylake.

Will be there on the Sunday, as we have for the last few years. Pretty much everyone follows the leading groups, hence you actually get a better view of the other groups than on the Thurs & Fri.

You cant beat a bit of live golf, OK the TV is great but watching these guys hit balls up close is like nothing else youve ever seen.

Have been to plenty of European tour events but its the first time at the Open as I normally play in the Moray open so never around.

The Pro Am day at the BMW is always worth a look, you get to see all the Pros plus a few celebs. All for 12 quid plus kids go free

I am newish to golf and would love to go and attend a major. £65 per day does not sound to bad really for a days entertainment, seeing world class players up close.

I just do not have anyone to go with:(

Enjoy, i will be watching on the TV.

I don't honestly believe you need anyone with you to have a good day at The Open - I've been to four as a spectator and one as a marshall - it's a busy day just watching the golf and having a wander around all the madness that surrounds a major.

Best bargain of the lot is the Dunhill Cup though - free except on the Sunday with a decent (but not Open class) field on top class courses - all three of which are within 15 miles of my house.
