Just been for a fitting but I can't decide between Taylormade or Orka

Fundy

The simple reason is we all buy clubs that seem to be right for us, including fitted or custom built. The reality is that several months down the road, some people will question the wisdom of their original purchase and often sell or trade.

It may not be intentional but if you lose confidence in either your ability or what you have bought it will have a detrimental effect on your game.

If for any reason you decided to sell there is a much larger market and demand for clubs manufactured and marketed by the leading brands

True there are an amazing number of forumers that believe it is the clubs that are at fault, and not the person swinging them. Do golfers that are for ever changing clubs actually get better, or are they just throwing away their money.:mmm:

The only thing I'd say Louise is take your time choosing, you know what golf is like, one day you can be striking it great the next day it's poor. I've found this can happen also when your trying clubs out. Try out a few Demo clubs at Ranges if possible.
Are there any other brands/ clubs that you fancy trying that they didn't have at Chorlton?

When I changed clubs 2 years ago I fancied something different from the mainstream brands. After much looking around I settled on Orka's and I have absolutely no regrets. I love mine and I won't be changing them for a long time. Lots of people pull one out of my bag, have a waggle and make some nice comments about them.

Bottom line though, it's your choice. I'm not trying to influence you in any way but if you want to shoot low scores and win competitions go Orka, if you want something that's out of date by the time you get home from the shop, go TM

As a brand I like Orka, There's a pro at Whalley golf club near Clitheroe who's an Authorised dealer, think he's name is Jamie Hunt. Ive had a nosey in the pro shop there a few times
I could Definately be tempted by their RS irons, Very easy on the eye
But the Game improvement Stuff looks like an Argos Catalogue Starter Set ;)

I'd suggest as others have that you go back and try them both again. What I would also say, is given the positive feedback by several forum members who have recently gone the Orka route, I don't think there is anything to fear if you choose that make and model. :)

Orka are the cheapest by about £100, I went to Chorlton-cum-Hardy GC

Can you get it cheaper online , .....sorry cheap dig at the online buying merchants ...................TM , more choice and better resale .....................EYG

The more you look into a clubs make up the more you can complicate things. I've had 4 sets of blades over the past 25yrs, Sounder, Titleist, snake eyes, and now Wishon. I will not buy mainstream again as I want the clubs to be custom built to me with the shafts pured, and I'm lucky to have an excellent club builder where I live. I prefer to be different but that's me, and like a lot on hear have said, go with the ones you like the look of and perform best.

I understand what you are saying, but the whole ethos from when I bought Orka (direct from Alex at Orka) was that if 6/12 months down the line they werent right then come back and re-evaluate and if changes are needed they would make them (rather than selling and buying something else). The whole custom fit process I had was far more thorough than Ive had anywhere else, with follow up session for gap testing and theyre due to go back before the start of spring to have the loft and lies checked and corrected if any have been damaged. When I got a bad stone chip on one of the wedges it went back in and a few days later was returned refinished. As much as buying into the clubs, I bought into the whole process which just isnt available to the layman with the very big brands (albeit I may have received more than most do I think) but I genuinely will be amazed if I swap my clubs inside 5 years and its more likely to be more than that. Ultimately the benefits of Orka arent resale values, but there may be more benefits than there is in buying one of the big mainstream brands (there certainly is for me) that outweighs this potential resale value

You've got members like RickG who speaks highly of them and he hits them very well around his new club, then on the flip side you have Fragger who doesn't get past the yellow blocks View attachment 8445

Shot yourself in the foot there PMSL
That drive was with a SLDR made by ........erm
Taylormade
Get back in yer box :)

If the clubs are equal ,I'd go for whoever gives the best after service , I know Orka will do a free gap test after a few weeks

How are those Adams clubs going Fish...?
Lou - have no fear choosing Orka over a "brand"
The quality of components and build is as good or better than anything else
Save yourself 100 quid, keep the clubs for 3 years and the real value will be equal to most other clubs.

So the chuckle brothers are sticking together are they

They were never in my signature and they were never praised all the time as he does on behalf of Orka being a self proclaimed Orkaite so I see no relevance, I don't get on with hybrids, I gave them a go due to an opportunity I won, I've moved on, simples :p

Noticed one or two comments about resale value, surely you don't choose a set of irons on that basis ? If you did, TM certainly wouldn't be top of the list, resale value is poor due to high turnover in new models. I can relate to this from bitter personal experience :o

Choose what works best within your budget and make the decision.

Go with what you think will improve your game......distance / feel etc. Once you make the investement you never want to think what might have been!!
