Played a medal yesterday , dire , mood was awful , just didn't want to be there ended up n/r and was utterly gutted

Woke up this morning thought sod it got to the course at 06.45 1st on the course on my own , loved it ,played some great stuff and shot 81 ,which is very close to my pb

Now why couldn't I do that in the medal

That's golf, it's why we love it from highs to the lows and constant need to to do better . Am sure you'll blitz next medal

Happens to us all, I think. Last year I could hit a barn door with a banjo and my pro asked me when was the last time I played just for the fun of it. No card, no pressure. I couldn't remember. He told me to go out on my own, amble round and just play for enjoyment. The result was a nett 66 which could easily have been a 62 if I hadn't messed around with 4 shots trying to draw an 8 iron, just for fun. The thing is medal is stressful. You can't make a single mistake for around 4 hours. As the holes get ticked off, one by one, the pressure builds and that is if you are having a good round!
