SO, with our 1st two qualifiers of the year cancelled because the back nine is closed and the weather not looking like it is going to improve any time soon, when do you think I will get to play my 1st qualifier of the year?

Can't vote as my Club never hold any Qualifying Comps between mid-October and beginning of April.

With the fairly dry week we had last week and the fact you still remained closed I would estimate mid-march before the levels are low enough.

Is the course close to fully open or still saturated ?

The thinking was we would most likely be open towards the mid\end of this week but that's looking unlikely with the current forecast.

P.S. Last week wasn't fairly dry for us. We had torrential rain on Wednesday and Friday night.

You'll play valentines day ... and then not for several months until the cast comes off :D

:D funnily enough, I have already booked Valentines day off to play in the comp. The e-mail I sent to my boss & PM was...

"Hi Chaps,

Do either of you have any objections to me taking the day off on Friday 14th February. Being Valentines, day I have decided to spend the day with the love of my life….

….the golf course"

I am off on the 14th but need an early start time as I am having a go with the I20 and I25 at 2.00pm. Are you off all day and is there a 3rd that can go out early?

Yeah I'm off all day but haven't asked who is about yet as I was waiting to see if we were likely to be open

OK. Can you keep me posted. BTW that letter you mentioned arrived so I'll sort that out for you tonight

:D

I am not sure I would risk anything like that in writing - I like full deniability when it comes to putting golf before the wife......

It was just a spur of the moment decision - nothing planned......

Work related ....

Had to catch up with xxxxx so decided to play golf and talk business......

Anyone who said 14th Feb is gonna be wrong by the looks of it. I'm actually starting to think my first full 18 holes of the year will be in Florida in April.

I cannot understand a golf course holding qualifiers in Feb. Either your course is super well drained or your green keepers are touched by an angel. There is no way we could consider holding any kind of serious competitive golf until March and last year even that was put back due to the weather conditions. I think you will be looking at mid March before all this rainfall calms down and gets a chance to drain off.

Under normal circumstances, the course plays fine all year. Playing the front nine you wouldn't know we'd had as much rain as we have. There is an issue with a couple of holes on the back nine which keeps it closed when we have the amounts of rain we have had but if we could get a relatively dry week that would be open again and perfectly playable.

Biblical rain aside, playing qualifiers all year isn't an issue for us.
