Are there any limits or restrictions. My little nephew playing off the blue tees has been given a 22 handicap which seems a little stern. He has to give his dad a shot.

Does it change if he plays off the men's tees.

Normally juniors can get a handicap over 9 holes & I think the max is or was 28 but it may have changed this year after the new rules. Don't think they are allowed to play from the gents tees tho

Until you posted, I hadn't noticed that the 2016 CONGU manual no longer has an Appendix J which used to deal specifically with Junior Handicaps. This seems to have merged with the regulations for Club Handicaps which says it applies to any age.

The old specific rules for Junior Handicaps were that, as soon as a Junior's handicap came down to 28, it became a CONGU handicap and that is still the case with Club Handicaps. I can only assume that there is a SSS for the Blue Tees and that he has been allocated a handicap based on that SSS.

The handicap could be allocated from a combination of 9 and 18 hole cards. As with Club Handicaps, they could go up to 54 but as soon as they get down to 28 they become CONGU handicaps and are regulated in the same way as yours or mine.

I know that. Kid is freaky talented at sport it is all he does. Plays cricket at county level, rugby at a similar level and plays golf off 22 at age 11. I can beat him at FIFA on the Xbox so may stick to that

Any idea of the scores on the cards he put in? Most likely the male SSS off blues is much lower than you would expect. I think ours is 65 vs 71 normally
