Error of judgement it seems on the caddie's part but to try and hide the club is stupid, if he wanted to try and get away with it just leave it in the bag maybe no one would have noticed.

Sounds like he was delayed by traffic and had to run the last 2 miles to get there on time, obviously flustered, didnt go through his normal routine, made a mistake.

But compounded it by trying to hide it and make it 1000 times worse

Maybe he had a call of nature, went into the bushes for a bit of privacy, spotted a snake (not his own) and drew out a club to defend himself. After beating it off he might have left the club there in his eagerness to get away.

Yet another example a ridiculous ruling. Yes the guy made a mistake and the wrong choice by trying to hide it, but it hardly a calculated decision given his circumstances. To ban the guy for life and to strip him of his livelihood is utterly ridiculous.
