The fat Dutchman has gone. Two matches with barely a shot and thumping defeats every week these days its about time. Not sure Meulensteen is the right appointment but anyone has to be better. Rumour has it Dempsey is coming back in January which I think will be a great move IF we get him. Big game against Spurs on Wednesday but I fear it'll be more of the same. Championship bound I think

Big mistake - Jol would have turned it around. Proven quality manager. Only going one way now.

Was at the game yesterday. As a West Ham fan, it's very rare to find yourself thinking 'this lot are just no threat at all', but Fulham pretty much managed it. Hard to see what needs to be done to improve them - WH were just quicker stronger and better pretty much all over the pitch. And we're really not that good....

The question is, are there three worse teams? At the moment, I suspect not, but there's plenty of time for others to get worse.

Have you actually watched any of Fulham for the last year? It's been appalling and getting worse, Jol was never going to turn it around and some of the comments post defeat have been bizarre.

However, it wasn't all his fault. Hodgson recruited an ageing squad and did well with it but the funds to do much about it haven't been made available. The funds we have had have been spent unwisely, not necessarily on bad players, just not the right players. The policy of buying out of form\older players on the cheap and hoping to get them back to their best was never going to work log term and what we are seeing now is the result of years of underinvestment. The problem is, Fulham can't sustain that investment without external backing, Fayed did his bit in the early days but stopped spending towards the end and tried to make the club self sufficient which while admirable, means we can't compete in the transfer market with teams like Norwich, Stoke, Southampton and Hull, Cardiff and Swansea. When all around you are spending money and you're not, there's only one way it's gonna go.

It remains to be seen if Meulensteen is the man to take us forward, if he even takes the job. I suspect he will want assurances of financial backing before he commits so we will now see how serious Mr Khan is as a chairman.

I wanted Jol to do well, but something had to change.

Interesting and accurate. Not convinced the new man is the solution with no previous managerial experience especially for a relegation dogfight. The owner says its a long game plan and he has a reputation of getting his own men in and then giving them time to do their own thing. Sadly I think this will involve us starting in the Championship and with a new squad so a return to the PL not a guarantee first or second time of asking

3-0 was certainly a (very pleasant) surprise to me! A result against Crystal Palace next will make things look much better!

Every team from Hull down has the potential to be relegated!

Probably a good time, if there is any, to ditch a Manager. Low expectations for the Tottenham game though. Needs some investment from the relatively new owner though!

Regardless of whether he deserved to be sacked or not, show the man a bit of respect eh.

.

H'mm. He's certainly Dutch; almost certainly overweight; and comparing him to Benitez (aka Fat Spanish Waiter) is quite respectful imo.

I can't disagree, but calling him "the fat Dutchman" is disrespectful imo.
