I'm going down to one my local courses today with a possible view of joining.

I'm wondering if theres any specific questions i should ask as this is the 1st time i will be joining a club.

I will be asking about comps and social events but all thoughts will be taken on board

Cheers boys

It may pay to check that whatever things attracted you to this club in the first place are actually working or available. For instance does the online tee booking system acually work (assuming they have one).
Do they offer things like snooker and squash and if you are interested how hard is it to get some playing time on them.
If you are hoping to attain a handicap exactly how do you go about it and are there opportunities for you to play club comps whilst trying to get one.
Just some suggestions, hope it works out for you.

Unless the club is one of the fortunate ones it will be very keen to get your membership, which puts you firmly in the driving seat.

Joining fee (if they have one) ask for this to be waived/ reduced/ spread over longer period.
Are there specific new member events so you can meet other people at the club.
If there is a regular day/ time that you will want to play, make sure that there isn't a regular event that clashes with this.

There are loads more, but in general, think how you will want to use the golf club and taylor your questions around that. Gone are the days (at most clubs) where you have to jump through hoops to be accepted. Your hard earned cash is vital in this current climate.

Where are you joining Stuart?

Not 100% sure yet i'm going to Lee Park today which is a decent course , if memory serves me right they've spent a few quid on it recently.

Also, waiting for ChildwallGC to get back to me although i'm reluctant to pay the £950 joining fee.
I'm going to West Derby GC next week too so i'm keeping my options open

You will get a good deal and a great club esp as you have a few clubs you would like to join. The balls in your court so to speak.

I have played Childwall once was a nice course.

Good Luck!

Right just been to see the manager at Lee Park. On 1st impressions nice place, bars a decent size with sky+setanta, snooker tables etc.

Been given a free round to use in the next couple of weeks which i've gladly accepted.

At the momment it ticks all the boxes.
They've also dropped the joining fee and because i'm under 28 at the momment i qualify for a colt membership of £637.00.
so maybe a new set of sticks could be purchased too.

I am going to wait untill ive been round the other 2 then decide

Just phoned the club round the corner from me. Was looking to join last year but decided to wait and ended up at my current club for the winter.

They dont have a joining fee, and I can also take advantage of the Colts offer too. Think its about £600 per year.

Have a nice club house, snooker table sky T.V all that stuff and is less than a mile from my doorstep.

The Club Sec just told me that since I last played there, it had all been refurb and also they dont do interviews any more. He more or less said if you want in, your in.

The pro is a nice guy too, spoke to him on a number of occasions. All the bumph is in the post so shall see how I get on.
