A while back I posted on here asking for suggestions on what club to join in Leeds, well I'm finally taking my first step to committing to a club, playing Moor Allerton today to get a feel for the place. I may yet join somewhere else since there are so many clubs in the leeds area. But I'm excited!

Another thumbs up for Moor Allerton. That area of north Leeds going up to Harrogate is blessed with a number of really lovely courses. I doubt you can go wrong with any of them. Enjoy.

Moor Allerton is a really nice course and has the benefit of having 3 loops of 9. Not sure what it is like these days, but in the past they have been guilty of letting too many cheap green fees (via the usual online sources) on the course at weekends and particularly bank holidays. Have been there before when the members were in uproar about it.

I play at Sand Moor which is nearby, but is worlds apart from Moor Allerton in that respect. Apart from Saturdays 7am-3pm (which is member competition time), you can pretty much always just walk on to the first tee without it being busy.

Would certainly recommend having a look at Sand Moor. I joined there last year and love it.

I did do well, shame about the back 9!!! :o Especially the 18th when I putted from the top of the green off of the bottom of the green!!

Don't worry your not the only one to have done that and you certainly won't be the last. I think the course is fantastic and with 27 holes there's great variety. i have never noticed it been jam packed with visitors, more often than not on weekend afternoons /evenings it can feel like your the only ones on the course. I assume as a student you will be getting excellent value for money.

Mate we need a game sometime soon, not seen you for a while.

Just back from playing Moor Allerton and it was a class course I was playing with a +1 guy who works in the pro shop and we played the first and third 9. Really top course. At the beginning it was between it and Headingley but I don't even know if Headingley is worth playing after that!

I love Moor Allerton it's a cracking set up, I prefer 10-27 as the better 18 but overall it's a cracker.

If my memory is correct chiefio off here is a member there too, if you play him for money be very careful:ears:

That was my next question, is there anyone on here who's a member of Moor Allerton?

Sand Moor is definitely the course I would join if I were in your shoes LanDog. Much better course IMO and the fees will be similar.
