OK, I'm thinking of joining a golf club for the first time. I played socially for a couple of years 15 years ago, and have just gotten back into it and have been bitten by the bug. Had my first ever lesson a few days ago and learned soooo much from it (been give some things to work on and going back in a week or two). I don't have an official h/c but I shoot around the 100-106 mark. I'm just wondering, at what level did you lot join a club, am I joining a club too soon, should I wait until I get my avg. score, handicap a bit lower.

Get joining you won't regret it, some clubs now run academy membership for high handicappers including lessons. It's worth looking at.

bloke I play with usually gets around 110 - 120, he is 67, short off the tee and only been playing a couple of years. recently broke 100 and finished 8th in the nett comp of the club champs.

Aslong as you feel you will get your moneys worth by playing regular then its a no brainer. Go for it

Joined my current club 3 weeks after deciding to start playing again. Best decision I've made in relation to playing golf, even though breaking 100 at that time was just a pipedream at the time, as I never thought I'd be good enough to do it.

Don't let your ability, or any lack thereof, influence your decision to join a club. Everyone has to start somewhere, so get out and enjoy what membership brings.
