Title says it all really.

Trying to get right into playing golf this year after a few random rounds last year. But none of my mates are committed enough. So I'm thinking of joining a course round my way. Only problem being I'd be by myself.

Would it be hard to get a game with fellow members from your experience?

Just after having a few rounds by myself last year I would give up the beautiful game forever this year if I had to do it again!

You'll have no probs I did the same and I'm pants too! There's always someone worse etc. most people don't mind etc and some can be very encouraging and helpful.

Do it mate you wont regret it.

You would be suprised how much a couple of lessons change how Crappy you are!

Just make sure you do your research. The club i have joined is so friendly i dont think its a problem at all, but i also find playing on your own is great practise too.

I'm in the process of just joining Ashford and only know two people to talk to who are members. I'll sometime play on my own but i'll always be happy to join a group on the 1st tee and meet new people. My main reason for joining is to better my game, get a handicap and play in some comps.

I can't wait to join a club, just need to learn how to drive (a car) first, then I'll get it sorted, whether it will be on my own or not doesnt bother me. I got a feeling my mate will join with me though

............... and the worst thing Mashley is that I think I could be one of them! We do let some right riff raff in these days!

I think I'll get some balls and get joined up ASAP.

My problem is I'm shy so couldn't just walk up and ask to join in with a group on the 1st tee. And once people see how I play they might just walk away from me!!

Get joined up somewhere and get your handicap sorted asap. Then you can enter the comps. If they are drawn you'll get to meet loads of members on a regular basis. Also, most clubs hold a roll up (sometimes called swindles or greedies) and the pro or secretary will know when these go out. They are usually dead easy to get involved in and will guarantee you a regular game

Think I will do homer.

I think I'm set on the club I want to join. The secretary seems like a nice fella, never actually met him. But seems nice in emails!

So is the next step to go through to the club and sign forms etc??

Depends on the club, ask for a trial game to see if you like the course

Ask if they have a swindle comp which is a great way to turn up and play and mett new folk

Beware some clubs are not as friendly as others and its the members that make the club what it is
