Hi men- just a quick post to say that after much deliberation, I've decided to change clubs.
My Winter membership has just run out at Ilfracombe, and while I have enjoyed it, when weighing up the pros & cons I have gone for a course slightly nearer. It's also a bit longer too.

It is perhaps 3-4 mile nearer than Ilfracombe, and one of the decicing factors was my wife has decided NOT to join a club.
She's just not into it that much, but enjoyed the occasional round. It's a shame, as she's really quite good (her old man is off single figures and used to show her how to swing a PW as a child) but Willingcott will let het in on half price green fees if she plays with me.
The pull of the back 9 was a big decider- loads of water hazards, it really is one of the best parkland courses I've seen- Plus, the fairways are a little flatter which will help me as a begginer perhaps get more out of the game. Ilfracombe, it was nearly always above or below your feet.
Anyway I'll try it out for the next year and see where my handicap takes me- My actual "nearest" club is Saunton (Plus, I know the Secretary), just a mile away!
(It may be a while till I get to those levels...)
