John Daly Clinic and Q&A

John Daly attended Roganstown last evening and provided a driving clinic and Q&A afterwards--what a great guy.
Last evening was a wet dreary cold evening--JD managed to get his drive out to 300yds into a cold wind. I was standing on the edge of the tee box and standing as close to JD as you would to your sat partners. His rythm is superb as is his flexibility. He also had a good laugh with two of our long hitters who tried manfully to out drive JD--They got within 30 yds.

The Q&A was entertaining--and lasted approx. 50 mins.
Just a few snippets---his three favourite partners--Jolie,Anderson and Meg Ryan, anytime and anywhere!!!!!
He was delighted to be drawn with McGinley this week, he rates McGinley as a great guy and a gentleman and enjoys playing with McGinley.
Rates Tiger best Iron player, best putter and has a better short game than Phil. Also felt Tiger better than Jack based on his putting & iron play--Jack a better driver.

He stood for photographs and signed numerous autographs for a good period of time.
And like a seasoned pro he was off to bed at 10am to prepare for his first round of the Irish Open this morning.

I met him at St Andrews during practice when he won The Open and he was a gem. He has his foybles but thats what makes him more likeable. It sounded like a great evening

I think there is a lot of good coming out of the JD camp at the moment. Maybe because the media spotlight on his private life is off him on the European Tour but he seems more at ease and his golf is improving.

I've never met him but seen some interivews and read some articles about the guy and he always seems open and honest about his golf, his life and his problems. I hope he can find some inner piece and get back up the rankings and into the majors and big events worldwide where he belongs.
