Should Jeremy Clarkson be sacked?

It was said in jest. Can't believe the small minded idiots clammering for his head, or talking up legal action - get a life (or a sense of humour at least). There's plenty of stand up's out there say far worse on a regular basis in their shows. Mountain out of a mole hill springs to mind

No. The BBC pay him to be an idiot, and he is fulfilling his job description. Can't be sacked for that.

Question is, why is his view sought on anything other than top gear? Who ever asked for his opinion should be sacked.

No, what's a pension? Do working class folk in the private sector get those?

All for better deals for the emergency services but striking achieves nothing.

Well put.

If you are looking for an informed opinion on the strikes why on earth would you ask him to give it!!!???

Thought this was going to be about the distinguished assistant editor. Fine upstanding gent, satorical genius at the cutting edge of golf fashion and a pocket dynamo of a player. Don't let anyone tell you different (I presume the cheque is in the post Mr Ellwood)

Clarkson's attitude and humour are most welcome in this politically-correct world. The BBC need a bit of danger/edginess now and again and he is the perfect man to supply such nonsense.

Anyone who seriously thinks he should be sacked for what he said needs to get out more.

This whole situation reminds me of the fall-out from the Russell Brand/Jonathan Ross phone call to Andrew Sachs a few years ago, where it seemed to be the done thing to be 'outraged', whether you'd actually heard the show or not.

I do not know what they are moaning about. At least they have a pension, even if the new one is not as good as the one they would get. Not 100% on how the pension they get works but do they have to contribute to it or not? I am in the armed forces so will receive a pension from the government and I do not have to contribute towards it. It has already been calculated when setting my salary. SO many people are going to have to rely on a state pension as they can't afford to pay into a private, one so they should think themselves lucky to be getting what they are. Also a lot of people out there who have paid into a private pension scheme are looking at getting bugger all from it due to the current financial climate affecting the way their pension is maturing.

Clarkson and The Open are the two things which make the TV licence fee almost acceptable.

Dont know the ins and outs of any of it. But Clackson is paid to be a pillock(right thats out of the way).
You can not pass the comment they have a pension many dont(that has nothing to do with it, seperate issue).
From what little I have heard(TV news biase) Its mainly to do with new contracts(Changes to the one agreed and signed on first employment). So that is between the employer and employee.
It has alway been a basic right to withdraw your services or to protest(This is something that should be defended at all costs). You do not have to agree with the issue. but the right to protest it. Should be defended or it will be just one more freedom gone.(The basic right to agree or disagree is one of your freedoms, that people died for). Ok thats it I take no side but reserve my right to do so if I so wish.

No, it was so obviously said in jest.

Anyone who takes a comment like that seriously needs their meds adjusting.

I think sacking him would be very unfair.

We're all entitled to our opinion, no matter how extreme, after all.

He's forever making off the cuff remarks that are always taken to the extreme by the P.C brigade. Some people just need to get off their soap box and take the comment in the marror it was meant, I.E a joke.

The Daily Mail is only jealous becasue that's what they'd like to have said but didn't have the nerve.

Man paid to give controversial opinions gives controverisal opinion. Hardly a big deal.
