I've never understood the whole sitting as close to the courtside idea in Basketball. Have watched plenty of games myself and always found it better sitting a bit further back where you can get a better viewing angle.

it's probably an ego/VIP thing for celebs. The more important you are the closer you sit to the court. And the more chance you have of having a 6 ft 10 bloke clatter into you it looks like.
