This guy is different gravy, I know, long drivers are normally just gorillas who can swing a club really hard, but this guy seems different to the majority of the others around. I remember reading an article a while ago on him, (in Golf World, sorry GM) and he was saying that he does practice his normal game as well.

My question is, why not compete on tour? Would he be getting better money for what he does now? He definitely looks good enough, and accurate enough to be able to compete on tour

I seem to recall he has had a few web.com starts and I think a PGA tour start or two. He's definitely a good player but hasn't done enough to get on tour. I guess being a world renowned long drive guy probably pays better than being a struggling touring pro.

There is a bit more to smashing the skin off the ball... I suppose when he tunes it down he is still long but as the old adage says "drive for show and putt for doe (or dough) "

He might not be good enough (now) to make it on tour, but an article I read a couple of years ago mentioned he had a best score of 62 so can obviously play a bit.
It must be nice to use a 4 iron off the tee for safety and hit it 260! In another video of his he hits 6 iron 260 but with an all-out swing.

I would imagine he'd be a crowd puller if he ever made it on tour, and would get his fair share of sponsors invites.
I'd rather watch him than plenty of players in the top 50.

+1

Joe Miller - who came 2nd in the World Long Driving a month or so ago (only hitting it 405 to the winners record 427!) - plays off 5 or 6.

Problem that all the 'Golf Entertainment' stars (Trick Shot specialists too) seem to have in common is the inability to putt as well as the outstanding parts of their game!

Btw. While Sadlowski seems to be something of the 'poster boy' for Long Drivers, he hasn't maintained the dominance of 2008/9. He made the Finals, but not the last 4.

That was Millers first loss of the year!

As of july joe was off 2. Said his been below scratch before but with all of his training and guest appearances he simply doesnt get time to practice.

Btw, joe hit some guys odyssey 2 ball putter 260 yards onto the brabazons 10th green

He's marked as '5i' in his club handicap list! No results this year - as you said, he's been busy.

Nice trick!

He can hit as far as a good semi pro left handed too... theres a vid of him using Bubba's driver online somewhere...

In one interview I saw, Jamie said he could never be bothered to play on tour as he didn't like having to play "sensibly" for four rounds... just likes to smash it!

To be honest given a fairly predicatable and steady income doing corporate and pro ams or schlepping around the continent, trying to make cuts and struggling to retain a tour card, the appeal of staying as a long driver or trick shot specialist would seem a sensible move, especially given the work needed to a) get the game in shape to play on tour and b) keep it at a level to be competitive
