BBC news, 30 minutes non stop on Jade Goody this morning and while this is without doubt a sad situation, does this girl who came to prominence mainly because she’s not that bright and foul mouthed really deserve this attention…..I don’t.

I don’t know about you guys but it’s worrying when we have four men lost in a Scottish fishing trip and the BBC give us about ten seconds on that.

I see your point fella and completely agree with you, just another case of how celebrity driven this country is :(

What worries me is that our lads fighting in Iraq & Afghanistan barely get a mention when one of them dies now. As tragic as Jade's story is, is she really more important than our troops?

I couldn't agree more. Thoroughly fed up of all the stuff we keep hearing about her on the news, the whole thing seems rather sick to me - she shouldn't even be famous in the first place.

I'm sure there are thousands of people with terminal cancer with far more deserving achievements than her, but I bet they don't whip up a media circus about their situations.

Probably sounds a little harsh, but I for one will not be sad to see the back of her.

Rant over!

Now, I'm no big fan of hers either, but that is a shameful comment to make about someone who has just succumbed to cancer.

A military hero dies and its not front page news.

Someone famous for their ignorance dies and the papers and magazines dont stop.

It is tragic when anybody dies, It breaks my heart to think of 2 young boys losing their mum, but there are so many in the similar situation, lets not forget that.

It's always a shame when anyone dies especially a mother of two but this constant barrage of media reporting is totally out of context with what she did to make her mark on society.

She was famous for being an ignorant, loud and foul mouthed serial big brother contestant. Her contribution to the betterment of society and the world we live in was nil.

I'm ashamed that as a country we celebrate these people instead of those who work tirelessly to improve ours and others lives.

I've got no real interest in Jade goody but have to feel for the children in this situation .
HOWEVER , as much as i disagree with the actual coverage of her demise , the fact that she has bought the problem of cervical cancer to the fore and that there has been an increase of over 25% of young women getting tested is an extremely good thing.

If , through her sad and early death , a few 1000 lives are saved then it can only be a good thing.

I could face some wrath for my following comment but I am convinced that the media witch hunt that chased Jade Goody after the Shilpa Shetti debacle has brought on the cancer that killed her. I think the paps, red tops and gossip mags have put her under such a strain that it brought on this disease. She may not be everyones cup of tee and I for one think she was ignorant rather than racist but as it has been said before I feel for her two little boys who will never remember their mum

Madandra, she definately wasnt racist mate. Her dad was half-cast and you could see this in Jade.

Coming from Bemondsey I imagine as a kid, she had a very tough time because of this facing prejudice and bullying because of it.

It is immensely sad that her boys have lost their mother - its always sad when people die. But, I'm afraid to say, we've had Jade rammed down our throats since diagnosis and although I'm not glad she's gone, I am glad that the commotion will start to lessen.

It annoys me that a nobody who, as has been said, was "famous" for being thick gets all this coverage. Are there no other people in the same boat as she was? Do they get any mention? It could be said that her plight has raised awareness. Good. No complaint there. But lets keep it in perspective. We got far less coveage of Natasha Richardson's death and that to my eyes is at least as tragic.

Regardless of what you think of someone that is a shameful comment.

I lost a very good friend to the big C at the age of 29,its a horrible demise to witness for anyone whether there a member of the public or in the public eye :(

I am sad for her and her 2 little children.

However, the troops are more important than someone who become famous for giving a bow-job in big brother.

Yes the troops obviously do a much more important job but a human life lost to this awful desease or in battle is tragic whoever the person is in my opinion

No-matter what we think of the Girl, no-one should have to die that early in life. No child should loose their mother.

That said, all the publicity also sadly does very little for cancer sufferers across the country or the globe.

Tbqh I do think there are more newsworthy items, its simply because the media knows what sells newspapers to their key target audience & serves little benefit to cancer sufferes.

I personnaly think that because the newspapers & magazines have clearly made a fortune out of someone elses suffering, that a prportion of their sales over the period in question should go straight to cancer charities. Make these publications pay up.

And I really think there should be laws & regulations against this sort of media activity in future.

Here, here!

Any media organisation that has profited from this sad story (not that I cared for J.G.) should make a big donation.

yes well said,i agree with all the media stuff.

I didnt care for the girl much but it is still very sad.

I have 2 young daughters and the thought of them losing there mother is quite frankly beyond my wildest nightmares and her family no matter what you think of them are going through that nightmare right now.

Your right the newspapers are trying to act all considerate but they just want to sell more papers
