I am in the process of looking for my first set of clubs, at the moment I have a mish mash of all sorts. I have been offered some Jack Nicklaus clubs, 4Hybrid 5-PW, putter and driver (I already bought my own Ping G20 driver yesterday) stand bag, covers for the woods, all with graphite shaft. For around £90

I just had a look on the JackNicklaus website and they seem really cheap on there too. £75 for a set of irons, Just interested to see what are peoples opinions are on these? Between £20-£30 for Hybrids

Has anyone any experience of using these? Seems like a really good deal for the price and I think I could sell them on at a later date if I want to upgrade.

I was going to buy a set of irons either the WIlson D-100 or D-200 for £229 and £299 respectively but adding a bag (£60+) putter and a hybrid would bring my total up to around £500. I have had a look for second hand ones as advised in a previous post but they all seem to be around the £150-£200 mark. At my local american golf the only second hand ones they had were £300+

Many thanks Danny

I got new Nicklaus HP irons about 18 months ago from AG

At launch I believe they were comparable in price to the Wilson at around £250'ish (managed to snap mine in their clearance for £99!)

No issues with them in terms of quality or performance (the lofts aren't pushed up like TM's etc so it might appear you'd take a club more for distance)

I think Clay Long designed the Nicklaus range and he's worked for other manufactures and in particular Cobra (no surprise they appealed to me as I was changing from his King Cobra's so they looked kinda similar) by all accounts he knows his stuff

For me its an underrated brand for clubs in that price range so bargains to be had

Mmmmmm. No experience of these clubs Danny but working out the costings it appears you are getting each club for under a tenner.
An absolute bargain....................... aka cheap tat.
No different to a set of Dunlops or Slazenger that you can buy a club at a time from Sports Direct for £7.00 a club.
And you are right, you could sell them on at a later date, for about £25.00 if you're lucky.
Personally I would do a bit more homework, decided on a couple of decent sets and scour ebay or look on here for a second hand set that would suit.
I'd rather shell out £200.00 on a second hand set of Pings, Titleist, Taylormades or Mizuno than buy these new.
Sorry mate.

Just looked at the set on the Nicklaus website, don't think I'd go for the 'Jack' set either as those shown are nowt like the Polarity HP's AG once sold

Seconded

Thanks guys, I'll carry on the search :)
Can't see many of the ping g range on eBay at the moment, seems to be a lot of ping zing and ping eye2. Are these still a decent buy?

Good clubs in their day but you can get better, Danny let me see what I have in the cupboard under the stairs I think I have a set of Adams CB3s which will do you fine for now and you can have them for free.

Very nice clubs. I had the Adams CB2's and I loved them. Regretted changing just because i wanted something newer.

Wow, I'd be happy to give you some money for them, or I do photography as bit of a hobby so be happy to do some family photos if you wanted
