As per the conversation last week regarding frozen greens/grass.
I was out on sunday and couldnt help but notice the damage caused to our fine fairways by golfers during the cold weather last week.
For those that said it made no difference and dismissed the USGA post I linked up HERE
Anyone else have rough looking fairways since the freezing weather?

Ouch, thats's going to take a wee while to clear up. Good picture of the after effects of playing over a frosty course.

Why no trolley ban if the frost is that bad ?

I have to say my course wasn't looking too bad but I think time will tell. We were on hedgehog only for trollies so it will interesting to see this weekend what effect it has had and whether we end up looking like the picture.

Oh dear I haven't been on the course since our recent bad bout of weather but I know the course was going to be having a trial winter where trolleys are never banned to see what happens- I hope to god it has not made the fairways look like that! I fear it may well have though which will be gutting considering the course was in such good condition for the winter months.

Most of that damage is often caused just before a freeze where trollies roll over wet or damp grass and then it freezes overnight, though the same effect can occur running trollies over a frosted area followed by another freeze.

The bulk of this damage is caused by the heavier motorised trollies and lesser by pulled trollies due to the drive/friction of the self propelled trollies.

Im retiring to the bunker now as I know what happens when you condem things people cant live without. :D
