I've been selected to be a Ryder Cup Safety Volunteer !!!

I'm very pleased to say the least ! I wonder in what capacity I'll be used at the 2010 event. I can't wait to find out further details on what's totally involved.

Anyone ever this kind of thing before at a Ryder Cup, Open or similar ???

Ah yes the imfamous stewards , which nearer the time people will ask you let em in for nought because they happen to know you .
In all fairness i would have kept that quiet because people will take advantage of you soley because your working at that event the demand for tickets becomes even greater people will offer you back handers nearer the time

In the end you opened yourself up to many offers of bribes etc etc

I'm glad you've been selected but I wouldn't get too excited about getting too close to the action. A lot of the stewards around the course is given to club members so its possible you may be tucked away at a car park, first aid venue or somewhere else off course. However that said the atmosphere will be great. Good luck and I hope when the time comes you get lucky and up close and personal.

PS. You couldn't get me in on the practice days!

These are great things to get involved with. Well done on being picked. I'm sure you'll get some nice freebies.

My pal has done similar things for the Open. One year he ended up carrying the travelling group scoreboard for a certain Mr Ballesteros when he won at St Andrews so he got to see every shot from the maestro. Dream come true.
