After going to bed last night safe in the knowledge that the Met Office were forecasting a break in the weather, I awoke to the sound of rain and a revised forecast of rain all day.

Expecting to be the only one of our roll-up to turn up I headed to the club anyway and was amazed to be joined by 11 other members of our group. We sat in the clubhouse for a bit, covincing ourselves that the rain wasn't that bad in the way that only golfers can before heading out to the first tee.

Unfortunately, the met office were right with their revised forecast and it rained from start to finish but 10 hardy souls completed the whole round with only two crying off after 9 holes.

We weren't the only ones out there either with a steady stream of nutters adventuring out onto the Heath of Dreams that is RAGC.

They say mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun, I say only mad dogs and golfers go out in the pouring rain.

To top it off, I played like a knob :whoo:

Rather you than me I have to say. I played 9 holes on Thursday and got soaked no fun at all. Went out for a practice today and the wind was blowing a gale. I know I am not the longest hitter but measured a 5 Iron and it went 110 yards!!! I normally hit it 160

Played Friday and got a bit soggy but dried out before finishing. Pity the Guys playing today and tomorrow - not going to be fun at all.
Playing Monday and the forecast looks decent - for now.....

Rain really doesn't bother me so much anymore. I got a waterproof jacket, trousers and bucket hat, the rain runs off my hat, down my jacket, down my trousers and I stay bone dry. Got an umbrella and as of this morning a waterproof cover for my bag as well as a pair of mac wets. I can play golf for 4 hours in the pouring rain and stay completely bone dry having grip on my club the whole time.

Ok, maybe I don't like it that much but I got the gear to make the weather my bitch!

We had a mixed match away so had to play. Won 7&5 though so walked in after the 13th at the request of our hosts! Never stopped raining and a very cold wind but the Macwets did their job.

Another pairs competition at home course tomorrow and due out at 8am. Having got soaked every single day this week I was rather hoping for it to be called off but nothing yet. So the gear is drying out again and gonna have to grin and bear it.

26 of us turned up for the swindle today so a nice lttle turnout. Most of them wernt expecting the rain though so were a bit miffed with the met office forecast. There is the first club major of the year tomorrow but have been told it probaly wont happen due to all the water in bunkers etc.

Meant to be playing tomorrow, the boys I'm playing with will struggle in the wet and I'm currently 4th out of the 12 in the standings.

Wet get packed, new brolly packed, mc wets packed, let's get up these standings

Left after 3holes dad wasn't loving the weather I started bogey par bogey so it wasn't bothering me haha.
That's the best start I ever had thinks it's as I really had to think about my shot instead of hit it and go find it lol

We are made of stern stuff in the roll up matey and I'd have been there had I not had the club match later in the day. You can't have played to badly to have won the cash with 34 points in those conditions. You should count yourself lucky. It started getting very windy in the afternoon and much heavier on the last few holes. There was plenty of standing water although the tees and bunkers were standing up well.

I managed a similar level of knobbyness by the sounds of it. 3 down after 10 and back to all square by 15. Threw 16 away and one of their guys canned a 6 footer for a half in par on 17. Homer stepped up to the plate and made a solid par 5 at the last to win the hole for the half. Given I was with "The Major" I think it was a pretty stout performance

I was off at 1048 but rang the club and although its open its very very wet and not many going out. Combined with the last dredges of man-flu this made me decide to not go out today, so I might even crank up the PS3 later.

For now catching up on the final round of the Ballantines on Sky. Not all bad!

I played last Saturday - 21st - PROPER Soaking, 2 days later, the 'Dreaded' Man-Flu kicked in.....:(
Today is best Ive felt all week
Course been SHUT, wed / thurs / fri / sat ......... So I aint missed much
Open today, my pals are playing, but Id already arranged last week to miss today

Course is showing open for the first time in several days - I don't know how as its pouring down.

Getting a bit stir crazy but even I am not sure if I want to play today. I have sitting in the conservatory and the rain normally sounds worse that it actually is so ventured out to grab some stuff from the garage - it is chucking it down!! Soaked from a 10 yard walk and back.

Maybe a bit of putting on the carpet will calm me down.

Ours was shut Thursday & Friday so was expecting it shut on Saturday. So at 0600 im up checking the website to see course is open but back nine only and no trolleys at all. Had the remains of man flu too so thought about it for a sec and then sod it let's get it on!!

Met my playing partners and teed off, first two holes were shocking but then everything clicked! 16 pts from front nine after blog bing the first two! Didn't miss a fairway!

Second time round changed to match play to change things up and won the match on the 18th!

Might play in the cold and rain more often!!

Got to the club today and they decided to postpone the first major of the year and close the course. The 14th now has a lovely lake that Im sure isnt on the course planner.

Played yesterday, tee'd off at 8am, it rained for the whole round, drizzle to heavy showers.

Decided to put in a supplementary as no comp...........Shot a new course PB!!!

Well chuffed and should be getting another cut!

I'd rather be mad than boring!!! :D
