Visited Gainsborough as part of the GM - Ping - Lee Westwood gig.
Stayed overnight at Lincoln, and not having the time, grabbed a big Mac for dinner.

It is a whole quid cheaper up north than south of the Watford border. Little wonder that GC joining fees are about £500-800 rather than the bank bonus rates here.

i think you will also find the wages we get in the north are a lot less than those in the south,on the whole i think we have it better up north than some southern areas cost of housing etc etc, plus we have more top golf courses past say watford than down your end.

Also i guess no one up north have to pay top dollars to get the privilege of standing stuck under someones armpit on forever delayed trains.. but can breath some fresh air on a some great courses..

The only way is North...

you know it makes sense,up sticks and come to the beautiful NORTH WEST plenty of top courses and cheap to play and most within a 1hour drive.

Funny I spent a year in Gillingham (glad to get out). That was cheaper overall than up here in Manchester.
Even membership of the local golf club was only £450 per year.

My main bug bear. I could not get nice fresh worbies bread.

Big difference between South East and South West... The East is not really South.

Out in the SW, we go to fancy farmers market and eat Organic Bread.. no Worbies for miles.

It would drive me nuts living in Surrey or Berkshire. Having all those great courses on the doorstep with bonkers joining fees that the missus wouldn't allow me to join.:(

BTW, I've always thought warbies was overrated.:ears:

Gillingham?

You couldn't get worbies bread but you could get mugged, ricketts, ripped off, your car stolen etc

Yup, thats my problem... tried to trade the Mrs in, but Posh was taken..

With retirement looming... Been researching where I would get the most for my money... Currently it looks like the 'middle east' is where I am likely to end up... The bungalows look good and I am told there's some good golf to be had locally... So Skeggy here I come ;)...

BTW Not too worried about pricing of Big Mac's only had the one in my time and can't really see the appeal ...
