In 1943, Augusta National Golf Club was closed for the duration of World War II, and a small herd of cattle was allowed to graze its grounds.

Imagine that on your local club, never mind at Augusta.

Feel free to post any other golf related facts on this thread people!

Knole Park Golf Club near Sevenoaks have hundreds of free range deer wandering anywhere they fancy.

You do NOT get relief from animal droppings - even if embedded. A "splash" shot out of droppings is a sight to behold.

Ashridge have free roaming deer, they tear the fairways to bits in rutting season but nothing the green staff can't handle.

Pennington Flash Country Park and Golf Club in Leigh, Lancs has people from the nearby council estate called "Plonk Loners" who come on the Course :p and steal your Golf Balls on a regular basis!

You can just about see the famous lighthouse at the top of the photo.

Brora GC still has little electric fences around their greens to keep the sheep off. Not very handy when you've got a delicate little chip with your ball under one!
