Predictably, tbis mornings comp was over for me by the turn.
7 bogeys and 2 pars is not a way to keep a 5 handicap going!
A bit better on the back 9 but 28 points =a return to Cat 2 and a playing handicap of 6 unless the unthinkable happens and everyone played as badly and the comp goes RO...
Just no consistency at all. I'll play one hole like a Scratch handicapper and the next like a 28'er, I'll smash a drive down the middle then miss the green by 30 yards with a wedge or slice into the clag, hack out, play a career 4 iron and make a par....
Only 1 double booger and 1 3 putt - the rest just solidly below average....
Hugely frustrating.......

I'm confused Gareth, how do you know his score as it's only SB points he quotes?

I can only gauge rounds by gross and nett scores, dont like and cant do the points thing

You'll come good, form is temporary class is permanent.

We've all been there, I had a bad run from April 2011 to August 2012. I went from 4.3 to 5.8 with only one cut amongst all the rubbish. Since then I've came back down to 4.9 so just hang in there.

Assuming he had no disasters then 28pts is 8 shots worse than handicap so at best he scored +13 off five

I had a hugely frustrating day too

24 points after 12 holes inc 1 blob, so pottering along quite nicely, next 6 holes total 5 points inc 2 more blobs both on the last 2 par 5's, for 29 points and a .1 up to 19.0

Im blaming the 5;2 diet the wife has me on, first day yesterday, felt weedy on the back 9 today

Sounds very much like my game for the last 2 months. It's only temporary, and will just sort itself out usually. Certainly I didn't do anything at all, just carried on playing and suddenly it clicked again.
