No. TightsAre you more of a stockings and suspenders person?
I think it is how we are programmed. A friend of mine always wears shorts, he even got married in them. No one blinked but I couldn't carry it off. I'll wear them on nights out, restaurants on and so on, but wearing at a wedding is oddly too far for me still. There are some contexts in which the wearing of shorts is simply inappropriate. I don’t know why; there may be no logic; I may just feel uncomfortable…I used to think that shorts are fine any time of day or place, unless going to a ‘do’ or restaurant in the evening…feel less constrained these days but the thinking is still there.
Unless they got married on safari, I'm not having that. That's outrageous. Or maybe if he's a postman?I think it is how we are programmed. I don't wear ties, haven't worn one for over 10yrs now. We went to a wedding last year and my wife asked what tie I was going to wear. 'I'm not wearing one' I replied. She was not happy, full on strop for days leading up to the wedding. I dug my heels in, got to the wedding, the groom and best men, 2, all were without ties.
We are brought up with norms, what is expected, and as we move away from them we still are fighting that little question mark in the back of our minds.
Nope. Former PE teacher so he spent his life in shorts. They were smart shorts but still shortsUnless they got married on safari, I'm not having that. That's outrageous. Or maybe if he's a postman?
It's funny though, since there are fewer and fewer occasions you would dress up for these days, I actually quite enjoy putting on a suit for a wedding as a one-off.Nope. Former PE teacher so he spent his life in shorts. They were smart shorts but still shorts.
I thought you were a youngster on here, you should be all for shaking up social norms![]()
I quite enjoy being the one in the cheap Tesco trousers, crumpled linen jacket and boat shoes. It's funny though, since there are fewer and fewer occasions you would dress up for these days, I actually quite enjoy putting on a suit for a wedding as a one-off.
I actually bought a new suit the other day for my daughter's baptism. I only had one other one that still fits now, and that was a black one with more a funeral vibe. The blue one from my wedding (nearly 5 years ago) the jacket is too tight now. And the dark grey one I've had for ages, the jacket is actually a bit too big. So now I have two wearable suits I guess.I quite enjoy being the one in the cheap Tesco trousers, crumpled linen jacket and boat shoes.
