....than a police officers?

A cop killer from the 60s is being released from prison....

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-29734816

In the report Theresa May says the Govt will be changing the law so that the taking of a police officers life will incur a whole life tariff (life means life).

Fair enough? Should there be any difference? Why should your life be deemed (in law) to be worth less than a police officers?

You could argue that they are putting themselves in harms way more than the average civilian?

Life should mean life for any murder

But I don't think they are valuing the life of a copper higher than ours

no we don't but bloody well should IMO phil.

So what if the person found guilty of murder is later found to be innocent ?

Killing someone because they killed someone lowers you to their level of brutality

And we don't need national service

I don't think that's their intention to be fair to the Govt, but that's the effect it will have imo.

And because most will realise what the govt intentions are the effect won't be to dramatic

national service would be IMO great for the youth of today to learn a lot about life instead of xbox! As said only my opinion.

Yes killing someone is brutal and me having kids or not doesn't change that

There is no need for national service - no one to train them , no money to pay for it. National service is not needed.

not in my book phil . And having kids has a lot to do with my attitude thanks so please don't dismiss it phil in your holy then though manner thanks! When you have had to watch your friends son taken away by a dirty scumbag and all he gets is time then your attitude may change!

What happens if the person you hang or kill for murder is later found to be innocent ?

Our society is more civilised

We all have stories of people effected by crime

Would killing a murderer not be the same? And what if they bombed the wrong person.

Locking them up for live also achieves the same aim without the need to drop to the murderers level by killing them

I remember this case very well at the time. It was a senseless murder of 3 policemen, Roberts, I seem to remember, went on the run for a while and there was no doubt that he was guilty - he should have hung for the crime and certainly shouldn't be released.
