Well all the experts were blabbering on about '62', Tiger slotted in as favourite, but the shortest course in years as brought the top golfers in the world to their knees, making Dufner chuck his club in the water, I've just watched Rory turn one of his irons into scrap (come back Titleist), Donald using a driver on a Par3, and many more racking up my sort of score when I play. With this in mind can the governing bodies stop going on about superlong courses, different balls for Pro's or different clubs. There is another way! The Pro's might be on Vallium and burnt out at 38 though.

Not a fan of a par 3 the pros can't hit. If they made that a risk reward par 4 then it would be a better option or just move the tee forward and make it a 230 yarder. Aside from that it is very good to watch the course punish players and reward good shots

Whilst I like to see a tough test for the pro's I don't want to see bogeys. I can see those any Saturday down at my own golf club. And by making a par 3 266yds long it loses it relevance to the game we play.

I can understand what you are saying, but it doesnt lose the relevance to me. We have a 246 yard par 3, all tree lined, a right pig of a hole and 2 x 230 yard par 3's too at our place so it's been great to see for me.

Every other tournament we watch is all about how many birdies can they score, so it makes a really nice change to see the pro's struggling like we do at the weekend too.

Great tv i think

All relevance to the game I play went quite some time ago, when pro's started hitting 340yd drives, 150yd wedge shots and 200yd seven irons!

Slime.

Oh, I'm loving this tournament.

No players under par now with Phil hitting double bogey.

It's not the length of the course it's how it's designed. Our place is only 4550 yards but when we had the short course championship there for several years the winner would only be -1 or -2 with plenty walking off after their round shaking their heads wondering where all the shots had gone. It's short, it's tight and the rough will punish you but it's great when we play a wide open course it's like aiming at a field!

I love watching the US Open as it usually bites the pro's back. No more booming a driver into the rough and hitting a wedge to 6 inches from the pin. Some will moan but I for one like to see them try and think their way round, such as Mickleson droppping the driver from his bag et.

Makes a refreshing change to see the pro's struggling. Wk in wk out we see them playing courses where they expect par or better on every hole. Not saying every course should be set up this difficult but if you win a major your name goes down in history,so you should have to be on the top of your game to win one.

The commentators whitter on about the rough just off the greens, but isn't that what we normally play out of? It is for me. Went worth was a Joke, 20 yards through the green, and they were pretty much on the fairway. Not golf as I know it. This is more like golf round my course, and guess what? They can't hack it.

Watching Swchartzel duff his way to a double and westwood hack the ball 20 yards is not really exciting.
