Is this laptop any good?

Not interested in gaming, just surfing the web, a bit of paint shop pro and you tube and maybe streaming some films to my tele.

If you're happy to spend £100 more and are happy with a refurb similar to the one you listed, I'd highly recommend a dell from the dell outlet. Something like this: http://outlet.euro.dell.com/Online/....aspx?c=uk&l=en&s=dfh&cs=ukdfh1&puid=b5e51678 .

It has a better processor, more ram, a dedicated graphics card and a much better warranty. I've bought my last 3 laptops from there and had no problems whatsoever. Most of the laptops are actually brand new, just cancelled orders at a much reduced price.

That refurb at 279 is quite a bit overpriced.

Staples were selling HP probook 4540s notebooks for 350 inc vat which is very good value, I normally buy them for our guys at around the 450 mark. Last week when I last looked they were up to 399 but they have dropped down a couple of times for a day or two at a time then run out of stock. Certainly worth keeping an eye on.
I have given up on dell laptops due to the majority of failures over a couple of years. Ive not seen one hp fail yet.
