Evening all.......

Im open for all sorts here but as im religiously going to our local course (not my own club its a 30 min drive as opposed to the local course which is about 6 mins) Every tueaday and thursday night for my practice.....
Tuesdays - Putting and chipping
Thursdays - range work for my swing and my wedges....

As the evenings are getting shorter im running out of light and have been thinking about getting 2 camping lanterns for my putting and chipping practice night as the putting green isnt lit........I was thinking of one by the hole and one around my feet......
Im a pretty disciplined person as regards practice.....Followed on from my football days....

If you saw a fellow at your local course like this what would your thoughts be?

You have a problem brother and you need some help...... Just like me.

I was actualy trying to work out a way to chip in the house last night.

Tbh that would be a little bit over the top, practice on the carpet or try and do it when its light,as Homer said you wouldnt see the borrows and most people would think your a little bit mad and obsessive.

hahahaha....... :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks for the replies chaps........I just said id stick out the feelers and see what peoples opinions were.....Maybe if i knock the tuesday and get to the club for a couple of hours on the saturdays instead......Might be a better idea ;)

Stay at home, you could always try to chip into the toilet bowl or hit a lob wedge from the hall to the landing.See how close you can get to the plasma screen and still get over it. The house has numerous possibilities, no need to use a lantern on the course that's going too far.

I have mixed emotions about winter golf (I know we're not quite there yet). On the one hand I feel as though I should make the effort to get out and play especially if it isn't frozen. However I dislike soggy, wet fairways and pudding greens and feel as though I'd get more from doing what the OP suggested and working on my chipping, pitching and putting albeit not by torchlight. My feeling is, practice in realistic conditions on the wet practice ground and take that out when it matters for the monthly medal and stableford. On the other hand go out and forget the conditions and the score and enjoy the banter in the Saturday roll up.

That's not to say I haven't considered it though :o

Winter golf for me is all about a pound, pound, pound laugh with like minded idiots, a chance to forget trying to get the handicap down and just playing carefree golf. I do not want to know comps thats what the summer is for.

For chipping, get some paint and draw circles on the lounge curtains and chip at those, 5 for bullseye, 3 for inside the red circle and 1 for inside the yellow.
And for putting, get a green piece of carpet, preferably about 9/10 on the stimp meter and lay it between the library and the drawing room and practice on that :D

Failing that, if is there a gym nearby they might be able to set up some netting and mats for evening practice or group lessons. Ask your local pro to enquire for you. You might get other members interested too.

I chip from the library, through the drawing room ,into the orangery, and let the butler catch the balls. If he drops one he doesn't get paid that week.

Alternatively i chip into the sofa, and get a right b...ocking from HID ! Already smashed two glass light fittings when i went for the full flop shot ! Fortunately i realised i was swinging too upright ;)

Get your front door mat and place it in the kitchen....sorry, utility room.
Empty your golf bag of balls and chip them all into an open washing machine.
A touch of Daz, a warm wash and off you go. :D

It might sound a bit daft but that's how a young Rory Mcllroy learned how to chip. :)
